Jose Aldo recorded his most memorable title defense on Saturday night at UFC 179, but the featherweight champ definitely took his fare share of lumps and then some, while defeating Chad Mendes. If you still haven’t seen the fight, well, you need to seriously evaluate what your priorities are these days…
Sure, it was pretty clear by the end of Saturday’s war that Aldo was going to look like hell the next day, as his left eye was badly cut and swollen. Well, Aldo’s striking coach, the renowned Pedro Rizzo, has posted a picture on Instragram, which shows how the dynamic fighter was looking not long after the bout.
Despite the fact Mendes blasted Aldo on several occasions, and floored the champ at one point, the latter kept coming and had the rugged contender in trouble more than once. At the end of the epic fight, Aldo was awarded the unanimous decision win and his 18th consecutive victory. That’s not too shabby.
The October 25th card went down in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
