Fedor Emelianenko To Hold Press Conference on Wednesday
Top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, who was scheduled to fight on Saturday at Affliction: Trilogy before the event was canceled and the promotion was folded, will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 1pm PT in Anaheim, California.
During the press conference, Emelianenko will “discuss the ramifications of the cancellation, comment on his future in the fight game, and respond to questions from members of the media.”
“Since the cancellation, there has been a great deal of speculation regarding Fedor and M-1,” said M-1 Global owner Vadim Finkelchtein, whose company promotes MMA events, including past co-promotions with Affliction, and also manages Fedor. “On Wednesday, the media and fans will be able to hear what’s going on with Fedor from the man himself.”
Stay tuned to MMAFrenzy.com tomorrow afternoon, as we’ll be passing along news and notes from the press conference.

Maybe fedor and dana haven’t reached solid ground together since fedor’s having his press conference solo AND 2 days prior to the ufc’s “breaking news press conference”?
fedor vs lesnar comeing up!!!!!!
p.s brock will smash him
I know that it is doubtful but it seems like fedor’s manager has relesased cryptic statements hinting at a possible new fight with Barnett this coming month. Any thoughts on this? I think it would benefit fedor if he wins vs the one many consider a top 2-5 current HW fighter and he has little to lose as ppl will just blame it on Josh’s ‘vitamens’
It would also feed off of the advertising dollars affliction spent before it’s demise. I don’t see how this could benifit Barnett BUT he might do it for the money or b/c this might be the only non-Japanese fight (or shot at fedor) he get in likely a long long time now.
What do you all think?
Barnett BUT he might do it for the money or b/c this might be the only non-Japanese fight (or shot at fedor)
where are they gunna fight if not japan? Barnett is suspended
I’m not sure where Barnett could fight where he wouldn’t incur a lifetime stateside MMA banning, unless Josh has made the decision to bever fight in his home country again, which would be sad.
Although I guess if the money was right, I could see Barnett fighting Fedor in Japan, or even Russia for that matter.
And lets be honest here, Fedor isn’t holding a presser in this country, he doesn’t even speak English. The truth is his management is holding the presser, and Fedor will just stand/sit there and look vaguely uninterested in whats going on around him…
Barnett’s situation is slightly different from Antonio Silva’s. Silva was suspended by the CSAC, where as Barnett was not licensed by the CSAC. Technically, Barnett could still get licensed in Nevada (with a clean test) or even go fight in Japan without violating any suspensions. The violation of the suspension is what (potentially) got Silva banned.
Thanks for the clarification, there Justin.
I wasn’t aware that there was necessarily a difference between suspension and non-licensure, but at least its good to know that Barnett still has some MMA future here in the US, if he can get himself sorted out.
So if you apply for a license and fail the drug test you will be denied a license BUT if you get a license, fight and then fail a drug test you will be suspended. Is this correct Justin?
essentially Etherbunny not to speak for Justin or anything, but the AC can’t suspend someone that well simply doesn’t have a license, so due to Barnett’s EPIC failure of a “application” drug test he didn’t “get the job” if you will and was denied by the CSAC, where as BigFoot Silva (EliteXC HW champ) failed a post fight drug test as was suspended, then he went to Japan and yada yada
Barnett is not suspended by the CSAC, but can’t get a license from them as of now (or however long California holds a grudge)
any news on this? the conference was scheduled to be earlier today but i still dont see any stories on what was said
