WEC Champ Torres Throws Out First Pitch Before White Sox Perfect Game

Miguel TorresWEC bantamweight champion and Chicago-native Miguel Torres threw out the first pitch at today’s Chicago White Sox game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The first pitch was followed by Major League Baseball’s 18th perfect game, tossed by the White Sox’ Mark Buehrle.

Torres (37-1), regarded as one of the world’s top pound-for-pound fighters and a winner of 17-straight bouts, returns to action next month at WEC 42, defending his title against Brian Bowles on August 9 in Las Vegas.

“I left a cup of lion’s blood and some cobra venom for him (Buehrle) at the mound to throw a no-hitter,” said Torres in a press release. “That’s how I roll. It was an awesome experience.”
