UFC: Jordan Mein Versus Thiago Alves is Re-Booked

UFC

If you were riddled with disappointment this past summer, when Thiago Alves withdrew from an August 23rd bout with Jordan Mein, cheer up, the two have been re-booked to fight.

Yes, the UFC has announced that the dangerous finishers will fight January 31st, at UFC 183. That card will see Anderson Silva throw down with Nick Diaz in the main event.

Although¬†Mein (29-9) ¬†didn’t fight Alves at the August 23rd, Fight Night card in Tulsa, he did quickly take out Mike Pyle with a flurry of strikes. The victory followed Mein’s split decision win over Hernani Perpetuo in April, after he was stopped by Matt Brown approximately one year earlier.

Alves (20-9) continues to battle injuries and has fought just once in 2014, as he decisioned Seth Baczynski in April. The “Pitbull’s” last fight before that took place way back in 2012, when he was submitted by Martin Kampmann.

So, if you’ve seen either of these guys fight, you understand why plenty of folks are happy to see they’ve been re-booked to scrap. It’s a great addition to UFC 183, and an important bout for both men.
