Josh Barnett: “I never once thought there would be a problem” with pre-fight drug test

Josh BarnettJosh Barnett, who was forced out of his Affliction: Trilogy headliner against Fedor Emelianenko after testing positive for steroids, has issued a statement via MySpace regarding the failed test:

“Many of you are wondering what’s happening. What I can say is that when applying for my license, the CSAC asked for me to submit a urine sample for testing prior to granting my license as they do with everyone, I believe.

It was not a random test. I had no reason to believe there would be any issues and went in to submit my sample at the earliest possible opportunity on June 25. I never once thought there would be a problem.

My representatives and I are working to gather as much info as possible and handle this situation as best we can. I am embarrassed and want for nothing more than to resolve this issue and receive a license from the State of California as I have done many times already and for other states as well.

I am very thankful for all the great family, friends and fans that still support me.”

A replacement has still not been named to replace Barnett and fight Fedor in the August 1 main event.

So he didn’t know he was taking steroids? I can only assume he knew it was a syringe being pricked into his arse during those rigorous training sessions.

No excuse Barnett, no excuse. You are forever shamed, twice.

      No love for Barnett.

      Barnett: “I’m so ronery
      So ronery
      So ronery and sadry arone

      There’s no one
      Just me onry
      Sitting on my rittle throne
I work very hard and make up great prans
But nobody ristens, no one understands
Seems that no one takes me serirousry

      And so I’m ronery
      A rittle ronery
      Poor rittle me

      There’s nobody
      I can rerate to
Feer rike a bird in a cage
      It’s kinda sirry
      But not rearry
Because it’s firring my body with rage

I’m the smartest most crever most physicarry fit
But nobody else seems to rerarize it
When I change the world maybe they’ll notice me
      But until then
      I’ll just be ronery
A rittle ronery, poor rittle me
      I’m so ronery”

I think that this particular type of steroid is often ingested, not injected.

This picture cracks me because the Flabby Faced Assassin hasn’t looked that ripped in several years.

Must be why he was using the stuff.

    • jcohl says:

Based on his current body-type, you’d think Barnett would have been more likely to test positive for Double Stufs than for the ana-nandro-tetra-oxy-phosphate-XYZ/123 or whatever the heck he tested positive for.

And I could post 9 lengthy paragraphs on how Barnett’s infraction has shamed himself and the sport while simultaneously disrespecting his opponent and his supporters, but I’m sure its all been said before, and we all know the drill.

Yes, Barnett and his representation will go thru the motions, and maybe, just maybe Barnett will be able to “Sean Sherk” his way into a more favorable light with the CSAC, but does it ulitmately matter?

I think the MMA community would have been willing to forgive an 6 1/2 year old infraction committed when Barnett was in his 20’s, provided he kept his nose clean and did right by the sport, regardless of how he did against Fedor.
After a second positive test for a PED in his 30’s and now presumably more mature, Barnett’s going to be labeled as the “Baby-faced Juicer” and that will put paid for the most part to his MMA career in the US.
It’s a good thing that Barnett likes working in Japan, and has a second career of sorts with New Japan Pro Wrestling, because that’s where he is going to be “DREAMing” for the foreseeable future, unless someone steps forward from LabCorp or wherever and admits to screwing up Barnett’s test…

I can’t help but be completely confused about this.I’m not a big barnett fan,and was hoping fedor would win,But i also recognize josh as being one of the smarter fighter in the sport.I’m not suggesting he’s innocent, but i’m very curious to here his excuse.
