Josh Barnett Reportedly Tests Positive For Steroids
A positive test for steroids will prevent Josh Barnett from fighting Fedor Emelianenko next Saturday in the main event of Affliction: Trilogy.
According to Fox Fight Game, Barnett tested positive for steroids in the first out-of-competition drug test administered by the California State Athletic Commission and will likely be issued a one year suspension.
Affliction’s Tom Atencio confirmed earlier Wednesday that Barnett had tested positive for a banned substance, without disclosing additional details.
If confirmed, the positive test would be Barnett’s second, having previously tested positive for steroids after defeating Randy Couture for the UFC heavyweight title in 2002.
The CSAC is expected to issue an official statement on Barnett sometime today.

What’s the over/under that Barnett will say “eff your suspension” and go fight in Japan for a while?
if he does it’ll be a lifelong ban like “Bigfoot” Silva
I’m surprisingly ok with that.
I suspect this will be exactly what happens anyways, he likes it over there, and trains some of the Japanese female fighters. (Remember that undersized chick that got manhandled by Guyborg after she missed wait?)
Is he retarded, I thought he would have learned his lesson
WTF?
Barnett!!! i know it you know fedor wonld of kick your !@#!3!! so you had to cheat ahaha well see you in japan:)
Two things cross my mind here in all of this Barnett fallout.
First is that there are easier ways of getting out of a fight that you haven’t the stomach and/or skillset to engage in, and second is that if Barnett prefers MMA life in Japan, then why this Afflicted Fedor charade?
Was it just to garner interest in the card, sort of like an MMA promoting version of the old sales tactic “bait and switch”?
Finally, and I’m not trying to kick a man while he’s down, particularly a fighter who I’ve supported for years, but if Barnett is a PED user, then why is his physique so….lets call it ordinary in the interests of politeness?
Shouldn’t a man of Barnett’s size and presumed training schedule [MMA and New Japan Pro Wrestling] possess a more defined and muscular body-type? It makes no sense to take steriods and stack them with Krispie Kremes, if you follow.
I’ve been told that being a pro wrestler requires a man to be half stuntman, and half bodybuilder. While Barnett isn’t Fedor-like in his dough-boyhood, he isn’t that far off either.
Something here just doesn’t add up, and not surpisingly Barnett’s website is strangely silent on the whole affair…
yeah a lot doesn’t add up IMO. granted the steroid metabolite he tested positive for is more for cutting weight and filling out rather than bulk. You would think he’d be more cut but oh well.
Also the timing is just strange you typically know more than a week in advance to the fight.
