“The Wolverine” Matt Grice will return to the octagon in Cincinnati to face Jason Black on the undercard of UFC 77.
Grice, a wrestler from Oklahoma, has an 8-1 mixed martial arts record though his lone loss came in his UFC debut earlier this year. After going 8-0 and mixing KOs, submissions, and a pair of decisions Grice debuted in the UFC at UFC 70 in England this past April against Terry Etim. Despite starting the fight strong Etim capitalizes on a mistake by Grice locking in a guillotine choke late in the first round to win the fight and hand Grice his first loss.
A more experienced mixed martial artist Black holds a 21-3-1 record since making his MMA debut in 2000. After going 19-0-1 in his first 20 fights Black was defeated by Shonie Carter in a King of the Cage event in 2006. After defeating Won Jin Eoh in PRIDE Bushido 11 Black was defeated by Shinya Aoki at PRIDE Bushido 12. After defeating Sam Jackson at Extreme Challenge 74 Black made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 10. Matched against a tough opponent in Thiago Tavares Black was submitted mid-way through the second round.
