Lets go Manhoef. Watch for those triangles and kimoras man.
Filho v Melvinn is going to be crazy, trust me if Filho acts anything like he did v Sonnen (II) Melvin might literally take the mans head off… I would however expect Filho to win the bout if he is “normal”, I might not like it but its true… But Melvin can KO damn near anyone just ask Hunt..
Sakurai took three times to make weight well that is just crazy, I know that he knew he had a fight or two coming up.. The WW GP is going to be great imo, I can’t wait to see it should be crazy, my suprise horse is Jason High but I don’t know lets see, but I think that Galvao has the “best” opportunity I do think that the winner of their bout will be the GP champion…
Jesse (Coco the Peeing Monkey) Taylor should win his bout, I don’t see how he would lose, should be interesting..
Aoki v Ribeiro is going to be sick imo, and I don’t know how its going down but Aoki should win yet I wouldn’t be suprised if Ribeiro wins via sub… This is a crazy tough test for Shinya Aoki we shall see….
I was under the impression after Filho’s disastrous showing against Sonnen in their second fight, that he was leaving the sport to deal with some personal issues.
Is it safe to assume those issues have been resolved, or at the very least addressed, if he’s heading back into action?
I was wondering if anyone had heard/read/seen anything definitive, maybe a statement from Filho’s handlers or some such?
His self-destruction was a shame really, because I can recall some before the first Sonnen fight people in the know talking about Filho being in Anderson Silva’s league, which is saying a lot. Heading into the second Sonnen fight amidst all the “did Sonnen submit or not” noise, and combined with the WEC/UFC merger, we would be getting a MW superfight of sorts to unify the 2 titles if Filho defeated Sonnen in the rematch.
And then Filho sort of went off the rails, and it all went pear-shaped, as our UK friends put it.
With a killer skillset of judo and BJJ [Brazilian judo-jitsu?] and a re-dedication to the sport, Filho could in fact one day find himself in the UFC, and on the trail of the Spider.
That is assuming of course that Melvin Manhoef doesn’t leave him in a chalk outline inside the Super Arena…
aren’t filho and anderson boys? didn’t they say that they would never fight eachother? filho did look terrible dude. No one wants to lose their belt that way. He’s still has a lot of time and tools to get it together and become some sort of “force” @ 185. But like jcohl said, it could be kind of early to return to action since he’s had these so called presonal issues. I guess we’ll see.
Big Jon mccarthy lookalike, and nic cage stunt double, imo, has potential to grow as a solid fighter. Although he lost to dolloway, i think he’s better than cb and that if he keeps working hard and stays out of trouble, he can become a strong fighter.
Wow.
Jason High upset Andre Galvao in an insane back and forth fight.
Zaromskis upset Sakurai in a bout that left the announcers speechless.
Zaromskis and High in the final.
Best announcer line I’ve heard tonite thus far was, “High has been mounted more than [pornstar] Jenna Haze”…
