UFC Fight Night 55 in Sydney, Australia, has picked up an interesting lightweight scrap for its co-main event, as the promotion has announced Ross Pearson will throw down with Al Iaquinta. The upcoming card is scheduled for November 8th at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Pearson (16-7) scored an impressive, second round stoppage win over Gray Maynard in August, to rebound from his WTF and controversial decision loss to Diego Sanchez in June. The punishing striker is 3-1, with 1 no contest (when he was cut wide open by an illegal knee from Melvin Guillard last October) in his last 5 bouts.
Iaquinta (9-3-1) is also coming off a stoppage win, as he took out Rodrigo Damm in the third round at a UFC Fight Night card in September. Prior to that the powerful wrestler was choked out by Mitch Clarke, with a sick, Dárce Choke at UFC 173. The former TUF competitor is 4-1 in his last 5 contests.
So, if you like to see guys chuck hands efficiently and hard, this fight should be on your can’t miss list.
UFC FN 55 will be headlined by a middleweight bout between rivals Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold. That fight should also be a doozy.
