Lyoto Machida will fight one more time before the year is out, following his decision loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 175, and it will take place on December 20th.
The UFC has announced that “The Dragon” will face CB Dollaway on that date at UFC Fight Night 58, which will be hosted by the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The middleweight scrap will be the card’s headliner.
Prior to facing Weidman, Machida (21-5) scored a jaw dropping, KO win over Mark Munoz and a decision victory over Gegard Mousasi, to secure the #1 contender spot. Currently the 36 year-old star is positioned at #4.
The former light-heavyweight champ moved to 185 after he was decisioned by Phil Davis (lots of people had Machida winning that fight) in August, 2013.
Aside from a tightly contested, split decision loss to Tim Boetsch last October, Dollaway (15-5) has been turning plenty of heads lately. In his last five scraps the accomplished wrestler has defeated the likes of Francis Carmont, Cezar Ferreira, Daniel Sarafian and Jason Miller.
The 31 year-old Dollaway is ranked #9 in the middleweight division.
So, Machida-Dollaway is booked. It should be an interesting fight, and really, when you consider nearly all of the promotion’s top ten 185’ers are booked, it’s a bout that makes sense.
