The reason I thought of the minimum is because they play the percentage games at work. Those who make little don’t get as much out of a 5% raise while those who make more…well in some cases they can buy a new car with theirs. Percentages are great for making the rich richer, but they do very little for the bottom end.

While a 10k minimum would be fantastic, I think a 6-8k minimum is more likely (and in most cases, already the bottom level – I expect it to be bare bottom once the old contracts are up). What the UFC really needs to do is help the fighters get better sponsorships – IF THE FIGHTERS SEEK THE HELP. The UFC clearly has some contacts and a vested interest in getting fighters paid more without doing it themselves. One staffer could be a pointman for all companies looking to sponsor fighters…a clearinghouse of sorts I suppose.

I’ll do my best moving forward to not step on any toes, or make you work too hard. Rather than move on to another side I’ll just shelve my opinions and let you do your thing.
Maybe we’ll just permanently stipulate that I have problems with both Fedor and the Diaz brothers, and from now I’ll just stand by their figurative “grave-site” smiling and nodding while you nail their coffins shut and shovel dirt onto the boxes with your commentary.

By the way, I really liked your solution to the fighter compensation issue better than mine. A 10 grand minimum is a way better solution than my across the board percentage increase. A lot fairer to the lower parts of the card as well. If a prelim guy gets 2 grand, my “solution” only scores him another $400.
Using your solution, the guy snags a check for 10 grand, which seems a lot fairer.
Really well thought out IMO, and the perfect example of why I visit this site, to be exposed to different viewpoints on MMA.
