Brock Lesnar going into the Hall of Fame with a grand total of 5 fights over Evan Tanner?

I’m going out on the edge, here, and I know I’ll catch some garbage for it, but I do not believe Evan Tanner should be in the Hall of Fame. No way. Here’s why:

2. Evan Tanner – Once the middleweight champion, then lost it. Not an impressive career, not even a title defense. Has only beaten 2 people of considerable skill. I highly disagree with this choice, if it happens. Just because he’s dead? Come on. I feel sorry for his family, I do; but this is not the quality of fighter the UFC needs to be putting in their Hall of Fame. Consider the future Hall-of-Famers:

Royce Gracie
Dan Severn
Randy Couture
Ken Shamrock
Mark Coleman
Chuck Liddell
Rich Franklin
Anderson Silva
Georges St. Pierre
Matt Hughes
BJ Penn

And then…Evan Tanner????????????????? I’d even put Lyoto Machida in before him. And Brock. And Tito, for goodness’ sakes. Come on, guys. Really?

I’m a little dissapointed that hughes and tanner aren’t getting in to thof this time around. They deserve it. What about tito? Oh yeah…dana. Dude tito hella deserves to be in there imo. He did a lot for the sport and kept it exciting when zuffa wasn’t even the owner. He’s got the record (tied now) for title defenses and he was a big “face” for the UFC. Whatever, it’s good to see mask and lidell going to the hof.

DbiZ, do what you have to do by playing devils advocate, I get it, I do it quite often too… Like I stated earlier this isn’t going to turn into an argument I get your point… I understand if you don’t believe that Charles should be inducted, yet honestly we don’t make these decisions…. Futhermore, lets not forget that Charles was close personal friends with Dana and the brothers Fertitta soo how do you forever inshrine your beloved friend? Not only did he do great things for THE FIGHTERS of many different orgs, he was a respected honest business man and truly loved the sport of MMA, see he was no different than us fans, except he took his passion and turned it into an opportunity to assits fighters coming up in the ranks of their personal popularity..

Tito most likely will get in, Miletich probably not anytime in the forseable future I would like to see it but well let’s be honest they aren’t fans of one another.. Tanner I’m all for because I have been a fan of his since I can remember, His heart was genuine hell, he was genuine self taught and a champion… Punkass I will assume will accept for Charles Lewis Jr, and yes I do believe one day he will be in as well and not due to a tragic death..

this quote alone shows me that mask was in my opinion probably the # 2 or #3 most ifluential person in mma -

FR,

I understand your point, I respect your opinions, but my issue is half devil’s advocate, and half inline with eldiablo. If Mask is alive, none of this is an issue. He is getting in since he is dead. Why not put the whole crew in there? Hell, they aren’t going to get in UNLESS they also die tragically. That’s even worse, really.

Furthermore, Why this dead guy and not that dead guy? Where is the spot for a former champion and active fighter if you’re putting one of the t-shirt guys in? Did Tanner dump Dana’s sister at the alter?

Finally, this is the UFC hall of fame, no the MMA hall of fame, so it should be about what they did for the UFC, not what they did for the sport. Which is why I will leave the room during any televised tributes to Mask or any footage of the induction.

I agree with you FR. His company grew as fast as the UFC did. Without the Tapout crew it would still be underground!!!
