Dan Miller vs. Aaron Simpson Possible for UFN 19
Middleweights Dan Miller and Aaron Simpson are likely to fight at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16 in Oklahoma City, according to Simpson, who recently announced the matchup on Facebook (but later said nothing was official yet).
The former IFL middleweight champ Miller (11-2) won three-straight bouts over Rob Kimmons, Matt Horwich, and Jake Rosholt to begin his UFC career, extending his unbeaten streak to ten-straight, but suffered a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC 98 in May, his first loss in over three years.
Aaron Simpson, who trains at Arizona Combat Systems, made his WEC debut late last year with an 18-second knockout of David Avellan. After the promotion’s middleweight division was shut down following his win, Simpson made the jump to the UFC, defeating Tim McKenzie via first-round TKO in April.
Simpson and ACS teammate Steve Steinbeiss were rumored to be fighting at UFC 103 when it was tentatively scheduled for September 26th in either the UK or Phoenix, Arizona, but Simpson will now fight at UFN 19 in the Midwest and Steinbeiss could follow suit.
UFC Fight Night 19 is also set to feature Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta, with tickets for the Spike-televised event set to go on sale on July 9.

This could be interesting in the fact that miller likes to bang it out sometimes and thats obviously what Aaron is coming into this fight wanting to do. But miller knows he needs a win right now and I see him doing what got him the IFL championship, and to where he is right now. Which is his wrestling and BBJ fusion of attack. Not to mention before he fought mckenzie(who has no notable wins to his career)his opponents had a combined record of 3-5. Expect Simpson to get overwhelmed early.
Miller sub rnd 1
Pretty much my assessment as well, carls.
I understand that a lot of guys get suckered into the whole, “toe to toe, lets throw hands” striking mindset, but IMO that’s a self-defeating fight style for a lot of guys. Sure, if you’re Mirko CroCop you want to keep the fight in the middle of the ring and both guys striking, but when you have a broader skill-set that includes submission wrestling and/or Bjj, you need to ignore that ego-fueled jaw-jacking, use your brains, and grab a body part and crank until you see a tap or feel a snap, its that simple.
I also see this as Miller winning by submission in the first round.
Unless your george gurgel
Not ignoring that ego-fueled jaw-jacking, and not using his brain is why Gurgel is not with the UFC anymore and instead is with Strikeforce. Being with Strikeforce is still a good deal, but the UFC is a better deal.
i’d go with miller sub round 1 aswell
