Not to sound mean, by why is it after two professional fights in the UFC, Vinicius Magalhaes is recognized as a UFC veteran?
I know I’m late on this, but as bigchris2328 said below, after you fight for a promotion, no matter the number of times, you’re a veteran of that promotion. I generally reserve the general term “veteran” like “veteran heavyweight” for someone with considerable experience, either a large number of fights or against quality competition, but if I write “UFC veteran” or “Strikeforce” veteran it simply means they’ve fought in that promotion previously.
one fight in the ufc and your a rookie, after your first fight your a veteran, weird but thats the way it is.
because he (vinny) is just awful @ MMA
the MOON WOLF is getting his exhibition on hellls ya, this idea is simply wonderful and I hope it works out wonderfully for everyone
ya, and his win against krystof on tuf was luck
ya but krystof got the last laugh with four straight wins in the ufc
My win against Krzysztof was luck? I picked him, because I knew how bad he sucked. did you forget that too? that i was the one who picked him???… I trained with him, if you forgot that detail, and I used to submit him right and left whenever i wanted…
I would fight him 10 more times, and probably all the fights would go the same way that the first went… ask Forrest what he thinks about Krzysztof, ask Shawn Tompkins (his former coach) what he thinks about Krzysztof… or any other fighter who has been training with him, then you will know what their opnions are… You are a fan, you don’t train with the guy, you didn’t fight the guy… so the only way you can judge is by the his results… thats why you think that he’s that great, because of his last wins… just so you know, if those 3 fights were against me, instead of 3 wins in a row u would have had 3 losses in a row… not just against me, but against any other legit oponents (Primm was a joke, and Stann was just a good match up for him).
Vinny is really really good at BJJ no doubt but when he got in the cage for the UFC has he shined? did he impressive you? or was he simply just awful? Hey no doubt if I had the opportunity to grapple with the kid I most definately would I have nothing against him what so ever his ground game is on a level that well many people out there can’t comprehend, but to be honest he did look awful in the cage with the lights on and the crowd there, it might be a little strong but it is the truth..
I’ve been to several NAGA events, and all I can say is if you’re a ground game fan, these grappling superfights will be real Kodak moments, as they used to say. If the UFC throws its considerable promotional weight behind grappling, it might really blow up here in the US.
Now this Fan Expo has got me wondering if I should have maybe planned on going to UFC 100 instead of UFC 102…
I think it will be awhile befor grappling blows up. Fans still boo as soon as a fight hits the mat. There could definately be a good following though.
I hate to say it, carls, but you’re on-point for sure when it comes to the slow growth and acceptance of submission grappling in the US. And when fans boo at a match when it goes to the ground, it almost makes me mad enough to smack someone, but then I remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and the sport of MMA is all about the variety, both in the fanbase and in the cage.
On the business side of the equation the old ProSub League sadly couldn’t make it big when they had names like Couture, Monson, and Jacare on the promotional materials awhile back, and in terms of the fanbase this is the only MMA forum I’ve ever been to where I don’t get the question, “what the f*ck is NAGA?” when I reference it, and I’ve visited several other forums before thankfully finding this one that has with intelligent discourse and knowledgable fans.
And not to sound snotty or obnoxious, but if you’re the type of MMA fan who likes it when the action goes to the ground, and you don’t know who Rumina Sato is, definitely check him out.
It’s well worth the time and effort IMO…
Yeah it would be awesome to go to the fan expo and the much anticipated UFC 100 but the tickets are 400 hundred more for the best seats IF you got them the day of the UFC fight club member pre-sale. I’m not saying I wouldn’t pay the extra but I spent 1500 on my trip to Portland already and that isn’t including money to spend while I’m there. Anyway I can’t wait for both cards.
i think that joe daddy will do well. his ground game looked awesome last weekend. i kinda didnt realize how awesome his sweeps were. glad he quit trying to out box everyone
what? ive never herd of any of these people exept vinicius and stevonson
