After Derek Brunson beat Lorenz Larkin at UFC 177, talked to the media about the fight and most importantly his desire to return to Greg Jackson’s camp in the future for his UFC career. The reason he left Jackson’s gym is to train at home to be with his three daughters more. He also left the gym right after a loss to Yoel Romero at UFC Fight Night 35 earlier this year.

“I need to get back out to Greg Jackson’s. He cornered me (Saturday), but I stayed home for this training camp so I could be with my daughters during the summer time. I just need to get back out there and get full camps in. I was definitely a little rusty out there, considering I haven’t fought since January and I had a broken jaw. So that played a factor in my performance tonight. I just need to keep getting better – that’s it.”

“I had an exciting fight last time – I won ‘Fight of the Night.’ But unfortunately, I left with a loss and a broken jaw. Coming into this fight, I definitely wanted to finish strong. I owed the fans a better fight and I owed the UFC a better fight. The UFC is the toughest, but you go out there and get a win and get it done, and then do better next time.”

While Derek Brunson’s next fight is not known right now, he looked very impressive at UFC 177 and looks ready to get right back inside the octagon shortly.
