Less than 24 hours away from their rematch, challenger and former UFC Champion Renan Barao had to pull out of his schedule fight with Champion T.J. Dillashaw due to illness. It was made public that Barao became ill during the weight cut process on Friday and was rushed to the hospital.
The UFC 177 main event rematch is no off. However, a replacement for Barao have been named and will fight T.J. Dillashaw in the main event.
UFC newcomer Joe Soto, a former Bellator MMA champion will step up and fight Dillashaw on Saturday. Yes, the title is on the line. UFC officials announced that news about one hour before the UFC 177 weigh-ins in Sacramento.
