Joseph Benavidez (20-4) was coming into this fight with Tim Elliott on a one fight losing streak. He was beat by Demetrious Johnson in a UFC Flyweight Tournament Final to crown the champion. Johnson beat him via split Decision back in September of 2012. He then went on a three fight winning streak where he beat Ian McCall via unanimous decision at UFC 156 back in February of 2013; he beat Darren Uyenoyama via TKO in April of last year and then Jussier Formiga via TKO back in September of 2013. However, he lost to Demetrious Johnson once again in a UFC Flyweight title fight via knockout in the first round back in December. He is coming off a win over Tim Elliott via submission at UFC 172.
Dustin Ortiz (14-3) has 5 knockouts, 4 submissions and 4 decision victories in his MMA career. He has never been finished in his MMA career. He made his UFC debut against Jose Maria Tome last November and won the match via 3rd Rd TKO. He lost to John Moraga via split decision back in January. In his next fight he beat Ray Borg via split decision back in April. In his last fight he beat Justin Scoggins via split decision at TUF 19 Finale.
