50 days out BJ Penn weighs 166.8 that is 11 pounds he has to lose in 49 days, he looks healthy and well I just think that Diego is “just putting his name out there, just in case”….. Whatever he was never going to win a title @ MW or WW ever sooo he goes to two decisions (tho the Guida fight was awesome) and now he wants to let everyone know “just in case something happens” I will be more than willing to jump into that fight YES! YES! {dropped my mouthpiece} YES!

I may be wrong, but isn’t the bigger story of this video that he even raises the possibility that BJ may not be ready for 101. It would seem that making a comment like that would suggest that there is some ‘news’ here that BJ may have to pull out of the fight. If that is not the case, isn’t suggesting that he may not be prepared a slight?

Diego or Kenny will beat Bj Penn!

But i think he should fight one more contender before title shot. I think Frankie Edgar he looked great in his last fight with Sherk and dominated him.

Good stuff man, although I do think he looked a little winded in even the second round against GSP, but it could have been from all the whuppins who knows?

I must be honest, I too rode the whole “if BJ shows up prepared” wagon for a while, but we really have NOT seen BJ Penn gas out in a fight since his loss to GSP the first time.

His title fight with Hughes he separated his rib in the second round going for a triangle and was hurt. Rib injuries affect breathing BIG time and that is what lead to his gas tank running on E. The ring doctors conformed the injury after the fight, but Hughes’ stoppage is what took center stage in most ppls minds.

His fight with Pulver wasn’t even close. He didn’t look anything less than fresh going in to round 2. The same with his defense against Stevenson and he was great for 3 rounds strong against Sherk ready for R4 (albeit Sherk wasn’t)

His fight with GSP the second time was not stopped due to poor conditioning but just getting his ass handed to him. It is really hard to say that Penn gassed out in that fight when he was being completely mauled by the more dominant fighter. He was more hurt than winded in my opinion.

I think the whole “what shape will Penn come in?” question is getting as old as “what mental state is GSP in for this fight?” Fighters time and again show us that they are prepared, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, but that takes a back stage to a performance that happened 3+ years ago.

My prediction is that Penn walks through Florian, Sanchez, and pretty much anyone else in the LW division. I think Sanchez should fight Maynard who is in my opinion the next in line after Florian.

I think it’s a matter of Sanchez was winning the fight, and Guida hadn’t really threatened anything that could finish the fight, therefore it was assumed that Diego would go on to either finish Guida, or pick up the decision win.

BJ Penn is a great fighter when he comes in prepared. He can dominate the 155 division for a very very long time if he truly wanted to, BUT since he’s the kind of guy that sometimes comes in shape and sometimes doesn’t, he’s bound to get beat by someone sooner than later.

Like I said before,he’s dangerous in shape or out of shape in the 1st round, out of shape, just survive until the second and he gives up. That’s a big reason why he never really reached his full potential it somewhat took some of his legacy away because if he would have come in shape when he fought GSP in the 1st fight and Hughes in their 2nd fight, he for sure could have beat them both which would have been huge, but no, he tends to slack off more than he should especialyy at this important time in his career.

Penn, stay in shape and nobody can touch you, come out of shape and your in trouble.

I noticed it too JEROD but i don’t think it means anything other than the fact that they too would like to see a rematch or diego vs bj.

Dude he broke up with his “professional hot chick” former octagon girl? He must be hella serious about the title if he let that go…!

I have to agree with diego and say that since he beat guida, he should be next for the title. Maynard or edgar for the title, or anyone else just wouldn’t make any sense. Whoever it is BJ or Kenny against diego (assuming he gets the shot), i’m just excited to see another great fight for the title…there havent been any lately imo.
