I agree with you on most, only match i disagree is; stojnic-struve. Struve will win
good call bro
1-0 good start for me

1-1 boooo haha shocked by that result tho how come the results r not getting put up
Paul Kelly def. Roli Delgado by unanimous decision
I don’t know, im trying to help!
Thanks for posting the results. Was a little late getting back from the zoo with my family but I’m here now.
All good Kris, how is the zoo these days? =^D
Denis Siver beat Dale Hartt by first-round submission (fanhouse.com)
Denis Siver def. Dale Hartt by first-round submission (rear-naked choke)
Terry Etim def. Justin Buchholz by second-round submission (D’arce choke)
By my count thats 3 submissions [Etim, Struve, Siver] out of the first 6 fights…great card so far for a submissions enthusiast like me…but I doubt we’ll get many more subs when the top half of the card is considered, maybe a “Swick-itine” or whatever he calls it?
Great fight so far!
Damn, I can only read up to date blogs about the Davis fight, im pumped and I can’t even see it!
Dan Hardy beats Marcus Davis by split decision. DAMN!
wow…I am not so sure about that decision
I thought Hardy deserved the win, though I would have liked to see a finish. I think Davis being cut and wobbly might have made the difference.
The cut got him the win
Split decisions…ugh…there is something to be said for fighting to a finish.
It was a lot better than this fight…
hardy didnt win imo, but the decision cant be changed. I think davis got screwed but oh well.
I agree. Lame. I say rematch!
Is there anyway to catch this fight real time on the web or do we have to wait until tonight?
It can be purchased on PPV through your cable or satellite provider or at YahooSports.com.
davis had nothing to gain from fighting hardy in the first place, but hardy baited him into the fight, davis shouldve been fighting fitch imo, but he didnt and now he is down a few ranks.
I hope Swick can finish this fight quick!
Good comment Big.
Fitch would destroy either of these guys for sure.
I agree, Fitch is a beast, but he needed more when he fought GSP.
swick looked like a bad mofo against killa b.
Swick delivers in style! Now has Cro Cop figured out the Octagon!
Five decisions, one of which was a split, in 8 fights.
The shine is definitely coming off of this one for me. I was originally sold on the quality of this card, but after 8 fights this is starting to look more like I’ll be donating to the UFC charity as opposed to buying a quality MMA offering.
Hopefully the top of the card can turn this thing around, especially if Velasquez finishes Kongo and turns out to be the “next big thing”…
As bad-ass as Swick looked, I don’t care much for his chances against Jon Fitch. I know Fitch didn’t look like a world-beater against GSP, but then again these days who does?
Also glad to see the fight decided by one of the fighters, and not the clock and the judges. So far we’re at 5 decisions, 1 split, and 4 definitive finishes. Inching close to the .500 mark, which is where I consider my PPV cash investment well-placed.
Swick Vs Fitch maybe if Swick wants a top of the line change without a title shot
Swick, Fitch and Kos are all a part of the same training team. Doubt they will be fighting .
thank I didn’t know Swick trained with them.. well who is there in the welter weight division that would be consider a step up in competion then… Hazelett maybe??? Dan Hardy??? Martin Kampmann??? { Matt Hughes -or- Matt Serra } Dong Hyun Kim???? Anthony Johnson??? Carlos Condit??? … Who does Mike Swick match up good with for a great fight?
Mirko won via eye poke…lol
alright cro-cop wins, its good to see him win in the ufc.
it wasn’t impressive at all.
im glad he won it doesnt bother me that he didnt kick turk’s head off. a win is a win bro.
Hate that there was an eye gouge, but it sounds like Cro Cop was relaxed and powerful. If that is the case, it should make for an interesting mix in the heavyweight division.
Thanks Crocop, He whipped him before the eye gouge.
I would love to see the Cro Cop of old be able to smash his way through this division, but I think that ship has sailed.
Cain vs Cheick – if it goes to the ground, my money is on Cain.
bet that was a tough bet for someone to take!
It might not have been impressive, and might have been a tainted win due to an eye gouge, but at least it was another in-cage finish [W/CroCop/TKO], and not left to the judges.
There has already been enough of that on this card so far IMO…
We get it j.cohl. You don’t like evenly matched fighters. Please try to have something better to say and stop wasting my internet.
dbiz it’s you that don’t get it… who wants to see decision fights like Liddell-Wandi when you can see fights like Canseco-Choi…
Been a great card IMO. The decisions have not been boring fights and Cro Cop dropped someone. Hardy-Davis was too close to call but I think the judges went on Davis appearance at the end (like Kris said) i don’t think that’s right but oh well. Good main event too!
Understood dbiz.
Didn’t realize this was “your” Internet, or your site. I would suggest in the future you just ignore anything with my name attatched, and spend that time YouTube’ing as many decision fights as you care to see.
Also, I would add to the forum at large that I don’t have a problen with evenly matched fighters, but I do have a problem with UFC matchmaking that yields too many fights going to a decision. Fights that go to a decision do not necessarily mean the fighters are evenly matched, some opinions notwithstanding.
Dana White has said repeatedly that he doesn’t dig fights that are decided at the judges table, knows the majority of fans aren’t into decisions, and has tasked his matchmaker [Joe Silva I believe] to book fights accordingly. With that understanding, I purchase their product. When I’m dissatisfied with that product, I tend to express it in an appropriate platform, such as this forum. If I’m mistaken, or displaying bad form, my apologies to those that run this site.
That being said, I do think that the Velasquez/Kongo match comes across as good stuff. It sounds like a lot of back and forth, and both fighters tried to finish. I’ll look forward to watching this later.
It does make me wonder if this win makes Velasquez “the next big thing” or a talented grappler that exposed a talented kickboxer’s ground weakness…
Velazquez did not expose anything we didn’t already know about Kongo. See the Herring fight. The fact that Herring did the same thing to Kongo actually hurts Cain in some ways. Means Cain didn’t do something that wasn’t done before and will probably need at least one or two more fights before being considered a #1 contender.
It is not the UFC’s job to ensure that all fights end spectacularly. It is the UFC’s job to put together matchups that make sense within the divisions and make sense with a sense of hierarchy and to sell PPV’s (in other words, you don’t put all five titles on one card…). If Joe Silva and the contract makers at the UFC put together a card like this one that makes people excited and sorts out title shot orders within the divisions, they have done their jobs entirely.
Come PPV Saturdays, Joe Silva, Dana White, and the Fertitta Bros get to sit back and be fans like the rest of us. Alright, maybe not quite like us, but they become fans either way. They have done their jobs, and now it is UP TO THE FIGHTERS to make an entertaining fight. If you are upset with the quality of the fights, the target of your ire and displeasure should not be the UFC Charity, as you so derisively said, but the fighters themselves.
In fact, the only organization that took it upon itself to ensure the “quality” of the fights was the now defunct EliteXC (see comments made by Petruzelli after knocking out Kimbo).
Great fight by both Franklin and Wandi. I don’t care if that fight wasn’t for a belt it was a great fight. My final thoughts… I thought Uno won, Hardy-Davis was a draw, nice to see Cro Cop back, Kongo needs to take some time off to figure some stuff out or he’s going to have the same issues again and again, Velazquez may have an adamantium jaw, great main event I do not care if Wandi loses his next 4 fights if he loses like he did today he gives his all every fight, and finally Rich played it smart. Great card.
not bad picks 9-2
hardy looks good ide like to see swick vs hardy that would be gooooood. only fight that dissapointed me 2nite was fisher and uno
Just as an addendum to my previously stated position on fights that go to a decision on PPV, I would say that a Wand decision is better than 99% of someone else’s fights that go to a finish. The guy is just incredible, and I look forward to him someday hooking it up with Anderson Silva, if things shake out that way.
Also, any thoughts as to who Rich Franklin fights next, presumably at 205?
franklin vs krzysztof could be on the cards but maybe rich would be a bit to much for him, good question i cant really think of a guy who hasn’t got a fight comeing up, ide like to see rich fight forrest evens page maybe jardine???
Krzystof would be a big step down in competition for Franklin. Maybe Jardine or the loser of Evans-Rampage, Hamil maybe. It’s a tough call really.
he just destroyed hamill, yeah i though that after i put it rich is defo top 6 imo
great call my bad!!! all those years of muay thai must’ve warped my brain
Cain Velasquez dominated Kongo on the ground. On the feet though, that’s a different story. Kongo might have exposed Cain’s chin, somewhat. Cain did show excellent recuperative powers after taking some hard shots from Kongo. Franklin won the way I thought he would: straighter punching. Cro Cop waited a bit long to start throwing some strikes, but once he did, that was that sans the eye poke.
Franklin vs Chuch Liddell? Its probably not going to happen but I thought it would be a nice box office draw. The loser between Rampage-Evans works for me too.
I thought Chuck Liddell was retired, or has that yet to be confirmed?
I could’ve sworn I saw Dana White saying after the PPV that Chuck was done in the Octagon, and was taking some sort of new position within the UFC.
I was also thinking [along with some of the rest of you] that maybe the Rampage-Evans loser would be a good match-up for Franklin, in a lot of ways. He’s on his way up, the loser would be [presumably] on his way down, stylistically either man would give Franklin all he could handle, maybe more, and in terns of promotion it would make a fantastic fight.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many fights Franklin has left on his UFC contract?
just because DANA says it doesn’t mean it happened. Until you hear it from Chuck it’s unofficial. Chuck said himself(justin, Kris, or FR wasn’t there an article on here?) he’s taking some time before he decides so no idea yet.
Thanks for the clarification, chrisl.
Kongo vs Velasquez was just painful to watch.Kongo needs to devote some serious time to wrestling and BJJ.The fact that Cain couldn’t finish him is an issue as well.
The Kongo was even more painful when Kongo wouldn’t separate and strike and instead would hang on to Velasquez and try to take him down. Cain’s inability to finish wasn’t very promising, but I think he’ll work on that.
Cain’s inability to finish really shows how tough Kongo is. He took a ton of damage and you could see it when the fight finished and Kongo stayed on the mat. Im not a big fan of Kongo, but he has some strong punching power, and for Cain to get those takedowns after almost getting ko’d impresses me. He has a stronger chin than it looks.
