UFC 99 Will Air on Setanta in UK on Saturday

As a follow up to yesterday’s post regarding the broadcast of UFC 99 in the UK, the UFC has announced the event will air on Setanta as scheduled.
There were serious doubts whether Setanta, which is reportedly in serious financial trouble and close to shutting down barring a last-minute deal, would survive until Saturday to air the card, but it appears they’ll be around at least one more day to air the event, which is taking place in Cologne, Germany and features 6 UK fighters.
Yesterday, UFC President Dana White confirmed the event would air in the country even if Setanta collapsed, with the promotion working out alternate plans with former broadcast partner Bravo, though it appears those plans won’t be necessary.

Good news, as I said yesterday, staff at Setanta had been told their jobs are safe until the end of the week.
Thanks got hopefully Setanta will find a investor as i dont fancy Sky buying the UFC coverage and us having to pay for PPV
US Tycoon Len Blavatnik has made an offer for a 51% stake in Setanta (he already is a share holder) which is very likely to be accepted as they have already called for a Boardroom meeting.
yeah that’s what i was thinking if sky got the rights for the ufc then they would definatly put every live event as PPV.
I’ve just been in the ufc website and it lists ufc 99 as starting at 20.00 cos it is in germany, just thought i’d clear this up as in previous posts people were quoting a 3.00am start.
I honestly don’t know what I’d do if they stopped showing the UFC on telly. It’s the only good thing on TV.. but equally the PPV alternative would be an unholy violation.
With the number of events a year I think this would be well in excess of £250 of expense for a loyal fan! How am I gonna afford to get laid? lol
I remember back when the UFC was free (tape delayed) on Bravo, and by free I mean you didn’t need the Setanta package. With TUF now being shown on Virgin maybe they will buy the rights and show it free again.
