Tito Ortiz knew as soon as he signed a contract with Bellator MMA that he could win again. Even though his original fight with Rampage Jackson was put on hold, he took the fight with current, reigning, defending, Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander Shlemenko and knew all along that he could win that fight.
“I believed that I could do it. I had no problem with it, said Ortiz. Many other people didn’t believe I could do it until after I did do it, and then they were like, ‘Oh, you were supposed to win. That was a gimme fight.’ It was just funny because there were so many people talking smack.”
Tito was suppose to make his Bellator debut against Rampage Jackson on November 2, 2013 at Bellator 106. However, on October 25, it was announced that Ortiz suffered a neck injury and had to pull out of his fight with Jackson. He went on to beat Alexander Shlemenko at Bellator 120 in May.
