Joe Lauzon Wants To Added An Ultimate Fighter To His Resume

Andrew Ravens

Michael Chiesa

Joe Lauzon is looking to get one more thing on his resume. What is that? Well, it’s to take out another Ultimate Fighter winner and that’s a good goal because his next fight is against one in Michael Chiesa.

“I just beat Mac Danzig who won ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ at 170,” Lauzon said. “Chiesa won ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ at 155. I tell people all the time, my season, Season 5, we had the best guys, period. You could argue maybe Season 1 was good too, they had a lot of studs, but Season 5 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ was supreme.”

Michael Chiesa has eight submission and 2 Decision victories while he has suffered one loss via submission. Prior to joining the UFC he was on a seven fight win streak.

“They gave me a list of a couple guys, and Chiesa was one of the guys. I thought, ‘I just beat a guy who won ‘TUF,’ let’s get another one and establish our season as the best.”

Chiesa had his first fight in the UFC against Al Iaquinta which he won via Rear-Naked Choke at UFC – The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale on Jun / 01 / 2012. He beat Anton Kuivanen via Rear-Naked Choke at UFC 157 – Rousey vs. Carmouche on Feb / 23 / 2013. He lost to Jorge Masvidal via Brabo Choke at UFC on Fox 8 – Johnson vs. Moraga on Jul / 27 / 2013.

“I’ve been fighting a lot time,” Lauzon said. “I think I’ve had 15 fights in the UFC and like 30-something fights in general. I’m confident that whoever they put across from me I can have a good game plan to beat them and prepare for them and get to work.”

UFC Fight Night 50 takes place at in Ledyard, Connecticut on September 5th. This show will air on Friday night and will take place on the same night as Bellator 123 in Uncasville, Connecticut.
