I don’t believe it- there is no special treatment for kimbo. Every1 is in business so as UFC, Dana, Kimbo etc. What I think is kimbo got paid to join in TUF so that TUF comes in limelight, get better advertisement, popularity etc. I know Kimbo is a junk but I bet he alrdy have lot of offers from different promotions. Why the hell he gonna contest and waste his time after TUF when he can make some thousads of dollars by signing with some other company. It is all business.

    • Jazzkok says:

It really doesn’t matter how much kimbo can make signing with other organizations or doing other deals. This is the premiere mma organization in the world and the only reason he’s made “big bucks” is because the other organizations had no other big name to promote their company. The ufc doesn’t need a “kimbo” to make a dime. If anything, kimbo is lucky dana even gave him a chance to not only prove himself, but do so in the most popular mma show. He should get no special treatment whatsoever. Seriously dudes, this guy is like one of those “reality stars” who become “famous” for doing nothing special. Let’s not forget that. Kimbo SLice, needs to prove himself if he truly wants to earn respect as a legit mma fighter.

      • OnlyTrue1 says:

        My boyyyyy Jazzok

Tell me. how or why does he need to prove himself??{kimbo). He has fought other mma fighters and won and lost in a mma organized saction has he not?? He fought tank abbott former ufc fighter, did he not, josh thompson mma fighter did he not? Trained under mma legend Bas el whoopo Rutten did he not?? SOOOO what else does he have to prove?

He humbly accepted Dana whites challenge and choose to do tuff!!
A guy who made what 500,000 for his last mma fight and was the name and face of that company??? He has more to lose IMO.
HE not out there like Tim Sylvia fighting in boxing matches cause he sucks at mma or Sokoju fighting in freak monster shows or backyard brawling, he’s choose to come to the ufc so what does he have to prove that Amir or Junnie or Chris leben etc. etc. didnt!

The man ISN’T AND I REPEAT IS NOT going to win it but atleast he’s trying!!! Good move and show of class. He deserves a chance like everyone else…. Man got kids he’s trying to feed, and if they look like him they gonna need all the help they can get…

  • I’m sure that Kimbo Slice will not get apecial treatment, it’s just going to be interesting to see how the other fighters react to him being there.

Kimbo Slice is giving it an honest attempt and he honestly wants to earn some respect and be considered a legit MMA fighter so i give him credit for wanting to silence all his critics. He seems to be a cool dude, so i’m personaly rooting for him to win it all because it would end up being a great story when it’s all said and done, maybe him winning can inspire people and show that you can come from the “streets” and become something better than just a a street fighter and earn some real respect and dignity.

Im actualy kinda torn. On one hand you could have Dana ever the opportunist seeing a gold mine in kimbo. Obviously he couldnt put him straight to a main card PPV cause everyone would rag on Dana and probably think less of him after all the crap he talked. So he does what he said and gets him on TUF. But has to cough up some serious dow cause other companies like dream are throwing big money at him.

Or on the other hand you could have kimbo saying “you know what ive made some money, now lets earn back some of that respect i lost by getting knocked by the pink panther”. And Dana saying wow this guy actually stood up to the plate, lets give him a shot. Either way its good buisness and should be highly entertaining.

  • Tw@ says:

Its becoming more and more obvious that Kimbo has signed exclusive with UFC and so Dana does not make himself looh like a chump he is easing him in TUF way, looking at the 4 or 5 other announced fighters Kimbo would have it in the bag anyway and regardless what any of you guys say you all will and have watched every single fight/brawl the dude has had!

  • Markus J says:

    A few things I noticed.

Dana tip toed around the question asking how Kimbo and the UFC started negotiations. He gave us no real answer there. Which leads me to believe Dana and the UFC approached Kimbo to be a contestant on TUF10.

Next, I have no doubt in my mind Kimbo won’t be getting paid anything extra to be on the show. He will get the same 5k or whatever it is the fighters get who win their fights. The money is not the reason he is there. He is there to make himself an even bigger star. He will get paid the star bucks once he gets to the UFC, which Dana confirms in teh interview.

What I think Dana is trying not to mention is that regardless of whether you win or lose TUF, most of the popular contestants get fights or contracts to fight in the UFC regardless. (Leben, Koschek, Bonnar, Jardine, Hamill, Davis, Sell, Clemente, Cote, Maynard, Wiman, Saunders, Soszynski, Browning, etc…) You DO NOT HAVE to win TUF to get a UFC contract. You have to put on good fights (Bonnar) or be a smart-ass who draws viewers (Browning).

We all know damn well Kimbo Slice will be a HUGE draw. The biggest draw ever in the history of TUF. My guess is Dana has promised him big bux in the UFC upon completion of TUF regardless of how he does.

Dana and the UFC as well as Kimbo all have one common interest. $$$$$$$. Kimbo Slice will have fights in the UFC, guaranteed.

  • Chy says:

See the video at 6.50…..Dana saying >>He(kimbo) has the same TUF deal but if he makes into the UFC his contract is different….a lot fukn different.

Why the hell so much different? Dana is contradicting himself. One hand he is saying he is not after kimbo, he is just like any other TUF contestent blah blah, yet he will out number in terms of $$ if he can make to ufc. Why not he get the same treatment as anyother former TUF champ or whatsoever. Coz with Kimbo, UFC gonna make hell lot of $$ more………

    • dbiz says:

And why is that BAD? A well-known guy who wins the show SHOULD get more than some chump no one has ever heard of. Why? Because he’s a bigger deal.

If Kimbo loses his first fight in the house, he’s out. No UFC afterwards. If he has a good showing or two but doesn’t win the show, he may be in. Obviously, if he wins the show, we have a new heavyweight gatekeeper.

There is no contradiction in what Dana says. ON the show, he is just another contestant. If he wins, he comes a UFC fighter with a new contract. Since fighter salaries are on the rise, perhaps he shouldn’t get the exact same contract that Rashad or whoever did from season 1 and 2.

On the show, he gets nothing without winning. Off the show is a whole new negotiation. the only stipulation on the winner is that he gets a 6-figure contract. That’s from $100,000 to $999,999. Both meet the definition but they are very different.

  • Curtis says:

I hope he doesn’t have special treatment. Time will tell… I am still waiting on someone to jump out and say this was all a joke.

  • White_Boy says:

I’m glad to see everyone is jumping on the Kimbo bandwagon, but you know what….I’m not. I hope he gets beat in 17 or 19 seconds again by some dude that has a 1-1 amateur record. He still has not earned the respect that everything seems to want to give him all of a sudden. There are a lot of true MMAers that have got to where they are by training at gyms, working 2 jobs to support their family and career aspirations. I’m sorry, but that is the people that I would rather see fighting on TUF to try and make something. Sorry, but that’s trufe.

  • Curtis says:

    WB,
That very well could happen, and it may even be what DW is rooting for.

  • carls says:

What im wondering is if Kimbo gets into the UFC(which he probably will unless he loses his first fight on the show) will Dana immediately feed him to the wolves or throw some bums.

  • RJA says:

I find all of this special treatment talk funny.Because IMO he already has been given special treatment by not having to fight his way in to the house. Now i know the other fighters won’t have to fight there way on either but who cares about them? Not trying to be insensetive by most of us aren’t going to know any of the other fighters. And who really benefits from this?Dana and the UFC because he’s assured some air time at least for a week. And to be honest dana would be stupid to do it any other way.

  • White_Boy says:

This is sp typical of Dana. If anyone saw it, 2 or 3 weeks ago, when Dana, Forrest, Kenflo were all on Dr. Phil. He didn’t really say much, but what he did say is that kids shouldn’t do these backyard brawls and stuff to try to get into the UFC. Well, isn’t this him eating his own words for a buck. Sorry, but I’m Dana-hating on this.
