A back and forth fight that could easily be a trilogy fight. Bad blood between the two was apparently just a gameplan to Ian McCall as he said in his post fight interview. It worked for Ian McCall as he get’s the win over Brad Pickett at UFC Fight Night 46.
Ian McCall (13-4-1) Has four knockouts, three submissions and six wins by decision. Prior to joining the UFC in 2012, he was on a four fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Demetrious Johnson at UFC on FX 2 – Alves vs. Kampmann on Mar / 03 / 2012, but went to a draw decision. In their rematch he lost against Johnson via Unanimous Decision at UFC on FX 3 – Johnson vs. McCall on Jun / 08 / 2012. He lost to Joseph Benavidez via Unanimous Decision at UFC 156 – Aldo vs. Edgar on Feb / 02 / 2013 and then in his next fight he beat Iliarde Santos via Unanimous Decision at UFC 163 – Aldo vs. Korean Zombie on Aug / 03 / 2013.
Brad Pickett (24-9) Has seven knockouts, ten submission and seven decision victories in his MMA career. Prior to joining the UFC in 2011, he was 3-1 in his last four. He made his UFC debut against Renan Barao, but lost via submission at UFC 138 – Leben vs. Munoz on Nov / 05 / 2011. He won his next two fights, but then lost to Eddie Wineland via split decision at UFC 155 – Dos Santos vs. Velasquez 2 on Dec / 29 / 2012. He beat Mike Easton via split decision at UFC on Fuel TV 9 – Mousasi vs. Latifi on Apr / 06 / 2013. Then in his next two fight he went 1-1, he lost to Michael McDonald via submission at UFC Fight Night – Shogun vs. Sonnen on Aug / 17 / 2013, but then beat Neil Seery via Unanimous Decision at UFC Fight Night – Gustafsson vs. Manuwa on Mar / 08 / 2014.

Round 1: Pickett lands a left hook as Ian lands a leg kick. Ian clinches, lands a knee to the fce. However, Pickett knees Ian in the nuts and we break. Back to the fight, Ian lands a big right, they wrestle and Ian get’s a clinch. He lands a knee of his own. Pickett keeps grabbing the fence, Pickett shrugs off Ian. Pickett shoots in, presses Ian on the fence. However, McCall reverses and gets out. Ian lands a uppercut, Pickett just misses a wild right. They exchange in the pocket and we go the bell.
Round 2:Ian get’s a takedown, they scramble and Ian get’s mount. They scramble some more, but Ian is all over Pickett. However, not for long as Pickett get’s to his feet. Ian lands a straight left, Pickett swings, but just misses. Ian shoots in on single leg, but cannot complete the takedown. Ian lands a body kick, he throws it again, but Pickett catches it. Ian accidentally kicks Pickett in the nuts. Pickett lands a left hook, Pickett looks for a takedown, but can’t get it. Ian misses a spinning back fist, and we go to the third round.
Round 3: Ian lands a body kick, he lands a few jabs. Pickett rushes and clinches with Ian on the fence. He applies pressure from the outside, he continues to land knees. They break, Pickett trips Ian and get’s the takedown, but not for long as Ian pops right back up. Ian with quick movement, moves in for a double leg takedown. This one goes the distance.
Result: Ian McCall def. Brad Pickett via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
