This was a good story for Rick Story when he dominated Leonardo Mafra At UFC Fight Night 45. He would go on to ground and pount his way through the first and second round. Thus, leading to a submission victory at Wednesday’s event.
Rick Story (17-8) was once an up and coming fighter, but has an up and down career. He has 4 knockouts, 4 submissions and 9 decision victories in his career. He has only been finished once in his career and that came by submission. He is 2-2 in his last four fights and looking to get another win. He beat Quinn Mulhern via 1st round TKO back in March of 2013. He then lost to Mike Pyle via split decision in May, then got another win over Brian Ebersole via Unanimous decision in November. However, his last fight did not go to plan as he lost to Kelvin Gastelum via split decision.

Round 1: Mafra lands a body kick and a flurry of strikes that stuns Story right off the bat. However, Story lands a double leg takedown to answer Mafra. Story is in half guard, where he goes to work on Mafra. After a minute or so of work, Mafra stands, but only to be taken down immediately from Story. This leads Story to tell a story with his fists. Story works over Mafra from top position. Mafra get’s to his feet with thirty seconds left, but only to be taken down once again by Story.
Round 2: While Mafra has the chance, he starts swinging, but only to have Story take him down with a single leg. They scramble around leading to Story slamming Mafra off the fence to the canvas. Story works over Mafra with elbows and strikes, which ultimately leading to a choke for the win.
