Stefan Struve who was suppose to face Matt Mitrione at UFC 175 blacked out prior to the fight. However, with his history of heart issues, the big guy says that his heart had nothing to do with his black out.
“What happened had nothing to do with my heart,” he wrote on Monday via Twitter. “But everything that has happened left mental scare that I really underestimated.”
“My team and I are already figuring out what happened and we have the pieces but just need to do the puzzle,” Struve tweeted on Monday. “Confident we will sort this out.
“Among with another important thing that we are looking at this caused what happened last weekend.”
Stefan Struve (25-6) has 7 knockouts and 16 submissions in his MMA career. Prior to his last fight, he was on a four fight winning streak, it started with Pat Barry, then Dave Herman, then Lavar Johnson and finally Stipe Miocic. However, in his last fight, which was in March of 2013, he lost to Mark Hunt via 3rd TKO.
No timetable for his return was announced.
