UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman has beat Anderson Silva twice and is coming off a win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 175, but Dana White says that the sky is the limit for the young champion.

“The sky’s the limit for him,” White said. “He’s the first guy I’ve ever seen so proud to be American … He comes off really well in every way, shape and form. The respect he showed Anderson (Silva), he’s like, ‘I love being aligned with Anderson Silva. He’s the greatest ever and he deserves that respect.’ It’s good stuff.”

Chris Weidman (11-0) Has five knockouts, three submissions and 3 decision victories. Prior to joining the UFC, he was on a four fight winning streak.

“This was an important one – this was big for him,” White said. “Everybody had to be thinking the same thing I was thinking. ‘How is he going to get to Machida? How is he going to cut off the ring? How is he going to do this? He has a very deceptive style and everybody knows now Weidman’s the man. He looked good tonight, and that was his first five-round fight. He’s only getting better, just like Ronda (Rousey). Scary.”

He made his UFC debut against Alessio Sakara, which he won via unanimous decision at UFC Live 3 – Sanchez vs. Kampmann on Mar / 03 / 2011.

“Weidman fought the perfect fight, the perfect fight,” White said. “The other thing about Weidman is he’s so durable and tough and strong. Every time you touch him you do damage to yourself. That’s how durable he really is.”

He would win his next four fights with wins over Jesse Bongfeldt, Tom Lawlor, Demian Maia via unanimous decision at UFC on Fuel TV 4 – Munoz vs. Weidman on Jul / 11 / 2012 and then Mark Munoz via KO at UFC 162 – Silva vs. Weidman on Jul / 06 / 2013.

“He’s undefeated, he’s beat Anderson Silva twice, and Machida, and this is the first time he’s ever gone five rounds. (It’s) his second title defense and he’s 12-0. Wow, that is impressive.”

He beat Anderson Silva via KO at UFC 162 – Silva vs. Weidman on Jul / 06 / 2013 to win the Middleweight title. He would then go on to retain the title in a back to back fight with Silva when he won the fight via TKO at UFC 168 – Weidman vs. Silva 2 on Dec / 28 / 2013.

His next fight is unknown at this time.
