DREAM 9 Results: Miller and Jacare No Contest; Kid, JZ, and Sapp Upset
A new DREAM middleweight champion failed to be crowned on Tuesday at DREAM 9, as Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza fought to a no contest in their headliner for the vacant title at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa, Japan.
Early in the bout, Miller connected with a kick to the top of Souza’s head while his opponent was on the ground, opening up a cut that would ultimately force the bout to come to a premature conclusion. The kick was deemed unintentional, but when the bout was eventually halted the fight was declared a no contest.
In other DREAM 9 action upsets were plentiful, as Joe Warren topped Norifumi “Kid Yamamoto by split decision in the second round of the featherweight grand prix, Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante suffered a unanimous decision loss to Tatsuya Kawajiri in a lightweight title eliminator, and Bob Sapp was submitted by Ikuhisa Minowa just over one-minute into their Super Hulk tournament matchup.

I wish Sokoudjou had given a better account of himself in the ufc. I would have liked to see him fight in the octogan at least a couple more times.
Well, Kid lost, Imanari lost, Maeda lost, Gesias (JZ) lost….. Kinda seems like a night where the favorites didn’t win…..* not to take anything away from Kawajiri but most presumed that Gesias would win that bout*
Good on Warren, taking out Kid, and Beebe….
Kid, now that his tourny is over is he cleared to come to the WEC? Still can’t believe that Warren won but hey it is what it is….
Jacare v Mayhem III coming to a ring near you??
I haven’t seen these bouts and I can’t wait to do soo seemed like a great night (morning) of fights…. Soko beat on Norjte after the bout was stopped, Ray Sefo came in and almost started a riot… Gegard dispatched Hunt way quick… Minowaman tapped Sapp….. HMC is 2~2 in his MMA career now…. Seemed like a fun night….
Soku almost started a riot, Sefo was responding to Soku punching Nortje about 5 times (or more) after the ref waved off the fight.
any videos available?
What happened with the no contest?

Mayhem quote about the kick to da face off of his twitter thingy……
“Got too hyped and punted Jacare in his head Wanderlei Silva style. Got deemed a “No Contest” they hold the belt for a rematch. Dammit.”

I’ve GOT to se the Canseco fight…when I was a kid, he was my favorite play. (fist the enter the 40-40 club!) Then he turned out to be a tool. Is it considered fighter bashing if it’s Jose Canseco??
Here is the video of Canseco being knocked out.
He appears to have blown out his knee.
