The Ultimate Fighter LogoThe coaches for the upcoming tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter are now set following UFC 98, according to UFC President Dana White, who announced the news at the post-UFC 98 press conference on Saturday.

However, White refused to officially confirm who the coaches will be. According to White, the series will begin taping on June 1st with a media day set for June 2nd or 3rd at which time the coaches will be officially announced.

Despite no official confirmation, based on the event’s results and previous rumors the coaches are expected to be Lyoto Machida and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson”, who will then meet following the conclusion of the show.

Machida as a coach would be very interesting because we would get to see (I would guess anyways) some very different training techniques then we are used too.

I’m with you Vinz, have been Lyoto fan since his ufc debut and have deemed his style to be “super master”. Would love to see some in depth coverage of how he develops his unorthodox style.

Only thing I dislike about this is that we now have to wait for a title fight in the LHW division for 8 months or so. There should be two of the top contenders on the show, so the title can still be defended while the reality show is being taped IMO.

One of the Coaches will probably be Chuck Liddell since he might retired soon. Maybe a last fight with the other Coach who i don’t know will be…

  • Us And Chuck says:

Makes logical sense i guess but not seeing Rampage for 9 months (something he said he regretted after the Forrest fight) and Machida not defending for 7 months is not a good thing IMO.

I would love to see Wand if he beats Rich in Germany and Anderson as coaches maybe it will not be logical due to the language barrier but there is genuine heat there it could fun as hell

I have a feeling we might see GSP & Hughes as Coaches for some strange reason….

Now that you say it i think i would REALLY like a Wandy – Rich coach season. Rich was great last time and i would guess that wandy speaks better english than Machida…great fighter but i cant help but think taking direction from a dude whos speaking diff. lang. has to be tough.

  • Vinz_Clortho says:

    Liddel vs. hughs as coaches then a catchweight fight ! ! ! ! ! !

Hell they could throw Coleman in there vs lidell and have it the battle of the gray hairs…

Might as well make anderson silva a coach there is no reason to have anyone challenge for his belt anyways… he cant speak english well tho..

Seriously tho.. couture vs lidell as coaches then a rematch 4 fun would be…. :D

  • al3ino says:

rampage had better learn to check kicks if hes too fight machida in the future

..and wanderlei vs anderson would be awesome!

  • eldiablo says:

It will obviously be a great fight, but how will this coaching thing work? Rampage seems both too laid back and too emotional; what happens if a day doesn’t go his way? Will he go on another rampage? I like the guy as a fighter and personality, but I wouldn’t trust him to run a group of young fighters looking to break things.

As far as Machida goes, yeah he’s the best in the world right now at LHW, but he can’t understand English. Sure he can speak a few words, but the same way I can speak a bit of Portuguese; I coudn’t understand it to save my life though. It just takes away from conversation when you need to go through a third party translator.

Or maybe they’ll do USA vs Brazil this time, which would be awesome. However, if the UK beats the US, then it should be UK vs Brazil (Rampage trains out of UK, so maybe they’ll still run that angle). That would be the only way the language barrier would work. And trust me, language is a HUGE barrier.

STUPID! Thats too long of a lay-off. People need to stop watching the show so they dump iut and we wont have to wait a year for the match
