The UFC will return to California for the first time in more than two years for an event on October 24th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
UFC President Dana White announced the event at the post-UFC 98 press conference on Saturday.
Though details were not released, the event is expected to be UFC 104 and will air live on pay-per-view.
After holding four events in the state between September 2006 and 2007, the UFC has not returned to California since UFC 76 on September 22, 2007 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The October event will be the eighth held in California, the most of any state behind only Nevada, which boasts 49 cards to date.

8th event? Shouldn’t it be the 5th???
UFC 76, UFC 73, UFN: Sanchez vs. Riggs, UFC 65, UFC 63, UFC 60, UFC 59.
Dana is a marketing genius. He always has a big announcement at the end of his events. Its almost like an old radio serial where they tell you to tune in next week for the next episode or conclusion. I follow him on twitter and he gives away free tickets and games all of the time that is cool and smart marketing.
Love your blog, can’t get enough of it.
Well, guess I’m going to have to travel to LA and catch a UFC card, darn……
