Cub Swanson is happy about his win over Jeremy Stephens at Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 44, but is already looking for a title shot or at least his next fight.
“I’m not really one to cry about things, so I’m just excited to be in the position I’m in,” Swanson said. “I’ve worked real hard, so if another fight was a good opportunity for me, then I would take it.
Cub Swanson (20-5) Has eight knockouts, seven submissions and five decision victories in his MMA career.
“I’m not really trying to wait forever, so we’ll see what happens.”
The longtime WEC fighter came into the UFC 2-2 in his previous four fights. He made his UFC debut against Ricardo Lamas, but lost via arm triangle choke at UFC on Fox 1 – Velasquez vs. Dos Santos on Nov / 12 / 2011.
“For me, winning a title is just like a dream,” Swanson said. “It’s something I want to do so bad, but it’s just something I feel is going to come to me if I keep doing what I’m doing. If I keep doing what I’m supposed to be doing, it will come. So I don’t feel like I have to beg for it. If I keep doing what I’m doing and putting on good performances, it will come.”
He is currently on a five fight winning streak. If he did get a title shot, he would have to wait after UFC 176 in August and would either fight Jose Aldo or Chad Mendes.
