Actually Affliction Entertainment is separate from the T-shirt company itself. Yes it is the same name and same label but Affliction clothing is Atencio and his friends and the entertainment side is owned in a large majority by Donald Trump w/ Atencio as the face. The T-shirt side cannot sustain the entertainment side if Trump decides he’s losing too much money and pulls his funding. It doesn’t help they are also giving money to Golden Boy on the back end of their shows as well. The T-shirt side is posting on average 6-7 million in sales currently but that’s just sales alone not revenue. The first fight Affliction ran cost over 10 million to produce on it’s own and that’s not including the huge pay outs to M-1 Global. So if you think they can run 2-3 fights a year costing over 10 million a show to produce with out posting a profit feel free to think that.

The T-Shirt business will survive no doubt but the entertainment company is at extreme risk when a businessman like Trump sees this as more of a liability than an asset to his bottom line. It’s speculation but it is speculation based on the books not just people hoping Affliction fails. I like seeing Barnett, Fedor, and Hieron competing on a continent where I can see the show at a reasonable hour so I hope they do find away to survive in some fashion but it is unlikely.

yeah but point is… they don’t have to post a profit. Instead of spending their money on sponsoring fighters they just throw them in fights, forcing those guys to wear their shirts anyways. It’s just an expense to their main business. like i mentioned, most fighters make more money in sponsorships anyway.

Unless we hear anything about the t-shirt business side going down anything else is just speculation.

also, they seem to have a great relationship with both strikeforce and DREAM.

people assume afflicition is going to fail for one reason…they have yet to post any profit.

Plus the issue is that Atencio pissed off half the MMA world when he started his promotion because he did off proceeds from other promotions allowing him to use their fighters as advertisement. Affliction has actually been banned by most fight organizations due to them starting their own fight promotion. Also the monetary losses are in large part to how much they pay their fighters as well because between the live gates and the PPV buys they are barely covering payroll.

why are people assuming Affliction is going to fail? Frankly, I don’t get it.

it’s one of the more popular t-shirt brands out there.

Get this, if they weren’t making events, they’d have to pay all those fighters sponsorship money to wear their shirts in someone else’s event. in an Affliction card, basically everyone is forced to wear their shirt.

The monetary losses from their fight cards are basically just their sponsorship costs. It’s just a different business model from any other fight organization out there. sponsors do pay out good money… Many UFC fighters have said they get paid more by their sponsors than by the fight promoter.

Im still surprised their doing a 3rd event. I guess the barnett fedor fight has enough interst to build a card around it and lose some more money. I wonder if their gonna pay any fighters a million dollars again. oh and maybe they will have metallica perform while their at it.

Carwin would put Fedor to sleep is one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard. Way way too funny.. seriously.. Fedor is 86% strike accuracy.. and he hits harder. Do math plz kthnx. Also.. fedor has absorbed THE LEAST AMOUNT OF DAMAGE IN MMA HISTORY. He’s fought 30 fights.

If you don’t think Fedor would rape any heavyweight out there, you don’t know as much about MMA then you think you do.

Well Fedor has beat every UFC champ he came against.Its funny because you think mabe he will lose to this guy or that,But he alayws beats them so bad you just wonder what the hells going on.I think Fedor is so mentally tough if he gets hit on the point of the chin in the back of the head or slammed he doesnt even flinch.The man even has said he can turn pain off with his mind when he is fightning.He is self admittly the hardest training mma fighter in the world.And Fedor seems very humble and honest in his speach.I have Fedor to beat anybody unless he is sick injured gets lazy which he almost did for his fight with Orvalisky of what ever its spelled. Or if his insane tough mental state diminishes.I have Fedor a winner till he retires or gets old thanks for reading

I can see your point that if Barnett beats Fedor it gives them two viable draws… but then who do they fight? I think Affliction is done after event number 3, either that or they keep waiting six months or more between events so they can sell enough T-shirts to pay off all their debts from the last event.
