As you read earlier on the site, UFC President Dana White today announced that Tyron Woodley (13-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has signed on to replace Hector Lombard (34-4-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and will fight Dong Hyun Kim (19-2-1 MMA, 10-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 48. This fight will serve as the co-main event.
Lombard had to pull out of the fight due to an injury.
Dong Hyun Kim had this to say about the fight:
“When I heard the news, I was devastated and surprised, said Kim. There’s kind of a mixed feeling right now,” Kim told MMA-in-Asia.com through a translator, “I’m not picky with my opponents, but I was focusing on Lombard, and even people in Korea were focusing on him.”
Dong Hyun Kim has 8 knockouts, 1 submissions and 10 decision victories. He has been knocked out twice. He made his UFC debut against Jason Tan at UFC 84 – Ill Wil on May / 24 / 2008 which he won by TKO
“He’s a strong fighter. He’s ranking is higher than Lombard, but he just lost. They are all tough competitors though, and every one of them can be champion.”
In his last five fights he is 4-1 and in his last four fights he is undefeated. He lost to Demian Maia via knockout at via knockout at UFC 148 – Silva vs. Sonnen 2 on Jul / 07 / 2012, but then began his four fight winning streak with wins over Paulo Thiago via unanimous decision at UFC on Fuel TV 6 – Franklin vs. Le on Nov / 10 / 2012, Siyar Bahadurzada via unanimous decision at UFC on Fuel TV 8 – Silva vs. Stann on Mar / 03 / 2013, Erick Silva via knockout at UFC Fight Night – Maia vs. Shields on Oct / 09 / 2013, and then John Hathaway via knockout at UFC Fight Night – Kim vs. Hathaway on Mar / 01 / 2014 in his last fight.
