The UFC has announced that Thiago Tavares (18-5-1 MMA, 7-6-1 UFC) will drop from lightweight to 145 pounds and will meet Robbie Peralta (18-4 MMA, 4-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 47.
Thiago Tavares is 4-2 in his last six fights.
He beat Pat Audinwood via submission at UFC 119 – Mir vs. Cro Cop
Sep / 25 / 2010, but lost to Shane Roller via knockout at UFC Live 3 – Sanchez vs. Kampmann on Mar / 03 / 2011.
He went on a two fight winning streak with wins over Spencer Fisher via knockout at UFC 134 – Silva vs. Okami on Aug / 27 / 2011 and Sam Stout via unanimous decision at UFC 142 – Aldo vs. Mendes on Jan / 14 / 2012.
He then lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via knockout at UFC on FX 7 – Belfort vs. Bisping on Jan / 19 / 2013, but won his next fight against Justin Salas via submission at UFC Fight Night – Belfort vs. Henderson on Nov / 09 / 2013.
Robbie Peralta has won his last two fights. He joined the UFC back at Fight Night 25 with a win over Mike Lullo. He beat Estevan Payan via knockout at UFC 168 – Weidman vs. Silva 2 on Dec / 28 / 2013 and then Rony Mariano Bezerra via split decision at The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 Finale on May / 31 / 2014.
UFC Fight Night 47 takes place Aug. 16 at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.
The majority of the fights will be aired on Fox Sports 1 and the prelims will air on Fight Pass. Tickets for the event are currently on sale.
