Andrei Arlovski vs. Brett Rogers Added to June 6th Strikeforce Card
A heavyweight matchup between Andrei Arlovski and Brett Rogers has been added to the lineup for Strikeforce’s June 6th event in St. Louis, the promotion confirmed on Tuesday.
Arlovski (15-6), a former UFC heavyweight champion, had won five-straight bouts, including victories over Ben Rothwell and Roy Nelson, before suffering a first-round knockout loss to top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko in January at Affliction: Day of Reckoning.
Rogers (9-0), a top-contender in EliteXC prior to the promotion’s 2008 collapse and now one of Strikeforce’s top talents, has yet to be defeated in his career, most-recently earning a second-round TKO of Abongo Humphrey at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz.
With the addition of Arlovski-Rogers, the Showtime-broadcast card now features:
- Robbie Lawler vs. Jake Shields
- Nick Diaz vs. Scott Smith
- Kevin Randleman vs. Mike Whitehead
- Phil Baroni vs. Joe Riggs
- Andrei Arlovski vs. Brett Rogers

i see bretts first lose coming by ko due to rape by the pit bull…….i hope arlovski wins this id love to see arlovski-overeem….but hey on the other hand if rogers does some how pull off the upset then he will be moved up to a top ten hw fighter in the ranking imo…at least my rankings he would be

This is shaping up to be a pretty good card,i’m looking foward to it.I think the sheilds,smith and arlovski fights all have pretty good potential.And i’m looking foward to see how rodgers does against someone of arlovski’s skill set.Ultimately andrei is gonna pick him apart.But i think it will be fun to watch IMO.

Well Brett you just got thrown into a huge match, and I actually believe that Brett has alot of power and if he trains seriously this can be a match to watch forsure…. AA doesn’t have the strongest of chins but he is a really good fighter and I think that his “boxing” is going to do well for him in this bout… Should be really interesting to watch this bout unfold… Can’t wait this card is looking more gooder by the day….

Rogers seems to be a serious fighter on the rise …. no Kimbo inflation happening in his record . He has talked about wanting a name guy to face so I think he will be in top shape . AA will come out blazing , if Roger’s can turn back the onslaught or wait it out then he has what it takes to put him away .
im actually looking forward to this card. and to be honest with all the new talent out there if strikeforce realy takes their time and plays their cards right they could be a force in the industry. years and years down the road that is. Wonder if AA’s gonna get that million dollar paycheck like the t-shirt guys gave him. For some reason i just dont think so. lol

This is quite a bit of a step down for Arlovski, isn’t it? Not to take anything away from Rgoers but…From Fedor to Rogers?
I guess you could say that, but after the way the Fedor fight went, not to mention he didn’t exactly look great against Roy Nelson, maybe Arlovski needed a step down.
I dont think we should count Roy out, we all know the guy can punch and arlovski has never had the best chin. although the guys who have dropped him hit realy hard.
I was thinking that myself about the fight but I think AA took it on short notice due to his boxing debut being moved again. Probably was offered the deal and figured he’d jump on the pay day.

oh $hit sorry man i was meaning rogers but got thinking about nelson and his fight with AA and how he got robbed at roy jones attemt at an MMA show to many roy’s lol, nelson doesnt hit that hard anyways so its obvious i was talking about him. lol
