Rory MacDonald stayed the aggressor and is really throwing Woodley off his game. Rory stays on Tyron Woodley and really picks him apart in their fight at UFC 174.
UFC President Dana White gave his thoughts about the fight at UFC 174 post fight press conference:
“He shut Woodley down,” White said. “He made Woodley look like he didn’t want to be in there. He looked awesome. I liked the way he fought, liked his interview after. The kid is coming into his own.”
MacDonald would lose to Carlos Condit via 3rd TKO at UFC 115 – Liddell vs. Franklin on Jun / 12 / 2010 in his next fight.
After that fight, he would crank out a five winning streak with wins over Nate Diaz, Mike Pyle, Che Mills and BJ Penn. He would also beat Jake Ellenberger via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 8 – Johnson vs. Moraga on Jul / 27 / 2013.
Tyron Woodley (13-3) the longtime Strikeforce champion joined the UFC on a ten wins and one loss in his first eleven fights. He beat Jay Hieron via 1st RD TKO at UFC 156 – Aldo vs. Edgar on Feb / 02 / 2013. He would lose to Jake Shields via submission at UFC 161 – Evans vs. Henderson on Jun / 15 / 2013. In his next two fights he is 2-0 with wins over Josh Koscheck via 1st RD KO at and then Carlos Condit via 2nd TKO at UFC 171 – Hendricks vs. Lawler on Mar / 15 / 2014.
“He (Tyron Woodley) choked in the big fight,” White said. “He needed to come out and try to rip his head off in the third. He has got a ways to go. It seems like he chokes in big fights.”
“I know there is a big fight with Brown (Matt Brown) and Robbie (Robbie Lawler) But one day soon, that belt will be mine”, said Macdonald in his post fight interview.
