Jason High was not happy about the stoppage in his fight against Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 42. After the fight, Jason High shoved the referee and started a lot of drama after the event.
“He’s cut,” Dana White told UFC.com. “I’m going to cut him. I look at that the way (Paul) Daley put his hands on his opponent after a fight was over. You don’t ever, ever f—ing touch a referee, ever. You’re done here. He’s been apologizing on Twitter, but he’s done.”
UFC senior director of public relations Dave Sholler issued this statement:
“Ultimately, that decision is going to be up to the commission, when you talk about fines or suspensions. On behalf of the organization, completely unacceptable. You can’t put your hands on the official. In the heat of the moment, a lot of things can happen – you can’t put your hands on an official. So we’ll regroup on Monday with the executive team and we’ll figure out if there’s any other things that need to happen.”
“Incredibly sorry & embarrassed for the ref incident. Will never happen again”, High said on Twitter later that night.
Jason High (18-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is dropping from 170 to 155 for this fight. Since switching from Strikeforce to the UFC he is 3-1. In his last three fights, he lost to Erick Silva via reverse triangle armbar in June of 2013. He beat James Head via guillotine choke in August and then his second straight win with a unanimous decision win over Anthony Lapsley at UFC 167.
