Current Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo has his mind on other things than his fight with Chad Mendes in August at UFC 176, he has his focus on the recent defeated Renan Barao’s loss to TJ Dillashaw at UFC 173 for the bantamweight belt. Aldo says that payback is coming for Mendes, who has apparently disrespected Barao. He said this to No Mundo da Luta.
“By their logic, how many times would we have to sign Urijah Faber in an MMA seminar at Nova Uniao? It was lack of respect. We always defeat them, (Urijah) Faber always lost to us and we never did that. We always respected them. We always tried to help them, like when they came here to the gym. We never disrespected them. But it’s cool. Let’s be patient, we will meet again. I have a fight coming up with Chad (Mendes), and Barao, God willing, will fight Dillashaw again and we will get the payback.”
Jose Aldo, the UFC’s dominant featherweight champion, will defend his belt in a rematch against top-ranked contender Chad Mendes of Sacramento on Aug. 2 at Staples Center in UFC 176. Aldo (24-1) is the UFC’s second-ranked pound-for-pound fighter. He has won his last 16 fights. He last fought at UFC 169 in February, beating Ricardo Lamas by unanimous decision for the featherweight title. Tickets for UFC 176 go on sale June 13.
