    Man that was plain sick.

Didn’t Lashley start training with Nate Marquart and dang I forgot!!
I thought I read something about him training with some new guys.

  • Justin says:

Pretty good job by Lashley to pick up the submission. He definitely looked better in this fight than he did against Jason Guida. I think he’s starting to progress quite well We’ll see how he handles Sapp and then I think he could be pretty fairly evaluated as far as his future potential.

    • OnlyTrue1 says:

If he works on his cardio and can handle Sapp’s “punch out” bull rush that he does he’ll beat Sapp.

      • Justin says:

I expect he’ll beat Sapp as well, but if he doesn’t that says a lot, or if he does, but really struggles to do so that says a lot as well.

  • Coach says:

I don’t even know where to start. BOO to BIG JOHN for leaving the UFC. Maybe we should get the Undertaker and Hogan vs Mayweather and Jones Jr vs Lesnar and Mir. It might sell some tickets.

    • dbiz says:

      1) Refs are not employed by the UFC. Therefore, they can no “leave” it.
      2) Why are you bringing up other wrestlers when Lashley started at the bottom in MMA and is slowly working his way up? Starting in some backwater KY promoter’s events and winning his way to MFC isn’t very pre wrestling…

Really, why the poorly thought out hating?

  • thezanman says:

Lashley had that stack!!! Nice SUB….

  • russiandoeboi says:

was it a verbal tap or did was big john just very on the ball as usual.

god bless great refs when guys like lashley slap on the guillotine seconds into a fight

  • bigchris2328 says:

apparantely cook passed out and big john saw it a few seconds late. thats according to aol. I dont know if lashley training with American Top Team is what solely contributed to this quick victory, but at least he is making good progress. maybe in a year or more he can make his debut in the ufc. I would like to see him and kongo throw it down. that would be a good fight, at least to me it would.

    • eldiablo says:

He’s not going to make any friends mocking the guy with pro wrestling antics. And for those who don’t already know (Cook probably being one of them), Bobby Lashley actualy was in the Marines.

  • bigchris2328 says:

whats even funnier is if cook really did what fanhouse claimed he did, then he really deserved the beatdown he recieved. http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/05/16/bobby-lashley-wins-third-mma-fight-in-24-seconds/?icid=main|main|dl5|link5|http%3A%2F%2Fmma.fanhouse.com%2F2009%2F05%2F16%2Fbobby-lashley-wins-third-mma-fight-in-24-seconds%2F

  • RonnyRAGE says:

After the Sapp fight the UFC should give him a look. He could sell tickets

  • muaythai4life says:

it’s amazing what happens when you lay off the juice. Lashly looks way more plump then he did in his pro wrestling days. not every abb muscle is showing.

Nuff bashing. Lash looked WAY better. foot work, timing. He still lead a little with his head for that punch he threw but he looked better. I still think with his background he will be the only force able to stop Lesnar in HW MMA today. I may be proven wrong with Brock’s upcoming fight against Mir, but i doubt it.

Hope Bob keeps it up. the HW division needs big, agile guys like that.

    • Justin says:

It’s possible that he was on the juice in the WWE days, many of those guys are, or have been at some point. At the same time, there is something to be said about the difference between functional muscle from training for a fight and big muscle from training to look big on TV for an entertainment show.

  • bigchris2328 says:

good point justin, you were also correct about the mask, cook came out with a rey mysterio mask(wwe wrestler) and did a hulk hogan impersonation to “screw” with lashley’s mindset. that didnt work so well. I think right now kongo is the only guy that could destroy brock. if lashley improves and comes to the ufc, maybe he will as well. mir might beat brock with a sub again, but as far as beating up and bloodying brock, kongo can, maybe overreem, maybe lashley in a few years. lashley impressed me, lets see what he does to sapp in a few months.

    • gibor says:

i LIKE bob sapp, think he is a nice guy just making a living. hate to hear him being bashed all the time.

but… sadly, his grappling skills arent too strong…
then again, he has a ton of experience in the ring !

      so, we shall see

      • eldiablo says:

Sapp’s a class act. But he’s a freak show and he knows it. He makes a fortune(or a small one at least) in Japan being the big strong scary looking black guy. They essentially formed the HULK tourney around him and Choi. Sapp has endorsed things like toothpaste and toilet seats in Japan and does every talk and game show imaginable. To the best of my knowledge, he never really trains to fight as his schedule (at least in later PRIDE days) was basically doing Japanese appearances all day long. I hope Sapp’s been training hard, cause all he’s got is great power and a weak chin.

  • gibor says:

not nice, bobby, u didnt touch gloves, tzk tzk, gotta be a mentsh!
    play like a gentleman! not a thug…

    • Justin says:

I can’t say that I blame him for not touching gloves after all of Cook’s pre-fight antics. I probably wouldn’t if I was in his shoes. The glove touch is a show of respect, show that level of respect to a guy that has done nothing but disrespect you so far?

  • gunslinger says:

wow! lashley rapes!….of course mike cook is a nobody but!……hey thats what he gets for mocking lashley….i think if lashley can take sapp down or take him into the second round he can beat sapp because sapp is good for the first round then he gas’s

  • timcat says:

Well now I think this makes Lashley a little more dangerous now that he has learned chokes and submissions. Lesnar still hasn’t. That says something to me about his seriousness about this sport.
