Wanderlei Silva Wants Fourth Fight with “Rampage”
Brazilian UFC legend Wanderlei Silva reveals his desire for a fourth, and possibly fifth fight, with Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson in an exclusive interview in Fighters Only Magazine:
“I want to fight him again. I want to fight him now, and maybe in the final (fight of my career.).”
Silva’s most recent fight was a knockout loss to Jackson at UFC 92. In total Silva and Jackson have fought 3 times with Silva winning the first two bouts by KO. The pair’s rivalry is legendary within the sport and is so great that some have speculated it to be engineered. Wanderlei. replies “This is a mindset for the fight. It is not fake, it is not just promotion for the fight.”
Wanderlei is a mixed martial arts legend and went undefeated in Japan for four and a half years before eventually joining the UFC and fights former UFC middleweight Champ Rich Franklin at UFC 99 in June next.

I honestly feel this is one of if not the biggest rivalries in mma history.
Rampage took imo one of the worst beatings in history by this man.
But kept coming for more. Then took the 2nd worst beating in mma history. Only to return years later to KO Wanderlie with one of the best KO punches in mma history.
OK i’m over doing it with the best/worst in history linners.
But these two guys have history and love to put on a great fight I say let them have it one more time for Wanderlie final retirement fight. If the man wanna go out on his sheild, hey why not by none other than then my dog Rampage.
this is one of the few fights I’ll still be w/ ok not going w/ the standard best of 3 “rule” there seems to be in combat sports.
wanderlei is nuts but i love it…
it seems weird because wanderlei has beat him twice and jackson only beat him once but i think the last fight jackson closed the door on this rivalry i think that fight proved he is the more superior fighter. Also it looked like at the end of the fight when wanderlei regained consciousness that the two made amends and put their differences aside and congratulated eachother.
Damn dude i dig wanderlei’s hunger to kick a dudes ass! I love both fighters and this has been one of my favorite rivalries ever, but i agree with you EVAN. I think rampage ended the rilvary with his sick ass left hook. Another fight would no doubt be sick, but wouldn’t make much sense. Rampage is about to challenge for the title, and wanderlei is about to drop to mw and headline “the comeback” BECAUSE he lost to rampage. He shuold just make peace with the fact that he destroyed rampage twice.
It’s understanable why Wanderlei Silva wants to fight Quinton Jackson again. It seems that he wants to end their rivarly with him on the winning side rather than beeing content with his first 2 victories.
If Wanderlei wants to fight Jackson again he’s going to have to put up a few wins in a row at 205 because Jackson is next in line for a title shot and Wanderlei is trying to stay “alive” as a contender. But personally i would love to see them fight again because you know for sure someone is getting knocked out and they make for an extremely exciting fight because they hate eachother so much and can each end the fight in an instant.
As far as their rivalry goes, this is for sure one of the best rivalies ever in MMA, problably the best and a huge reason is because they both really hate eachother. This is not one of those “beefs” thats going to end with both guys raising eachothers hand when the fight is over like so many other rivalries have ended: Pulver-Penn…Ortiz-Shamrock…GSP-Serra.
I honestly feel that if these guys were to fight again it would still be huge and very anticipated. wanderlei, first beat Franklin, then beat some other top guy and then you can talk Rampage again, but until that happens, he most likely will not get another shot, unless Rampage loses 2 or 3 and Wanderlei also drops 2, then it might happen.
Yeah, Wandy needs to string together at least 2 wins before the rematch (unless Jackson loses his title shot of course, then he can do it in 1). I’m a big Wandy fan and feel that he deserves one shot at the title that has always eluded him. Sure Wandy’s dropping down in weight, but he’s most comfortable at 205. If he beats Franklin and a top 10 LHW, and if Jackson can beat the winner of Rashad/Lyoto, I think we can have ourselves the grudge match of the century.
Not only does Silva want to avenge his loss to Rampage, he wants to avenge those 3 sucker puches he took while he was KO’d.
yeah im suprised no one made a big deal of those “extra” punches they seemed kinda cheap. It seem like everyone just assumed Quinton deserved to get them in because of the ass whoopins he got from wanderlei earlier in his career
i don’t think those punches were cheap shots. he was probably just hyped up and caught up in the moment.
Dude i dig wanderlei’s desire to want to fight and beat someones ass! I love both fighters and i’ve hella enjoyed this rivalry, but i have to agree with EVAN. Rampage ended this rivalry with his sick ass left hook.
Another fight would be a good one to watch, but it wouldn’t make much sense. Rampage’s next fight is going to be for the title and wanderlei’s next fight is going to be @ mw @ “the comeback” because of his ko loss to rampage. Wanderlei should make peace with the fact that he’s destroyed a dude he hates twice and just go decapitate dudes in the mw division.
F~it best outta 5 series, I’m down with that… Wanderlei has destroyed Rampage twice and well we all remember the ko that put down Wanderlei..
The extra punches were bs, but hey atleast I was able to put on my PRIDE dvd and see Quinton hang through the ropes and blood pour out of Rampage, so its all good in my book
I can’t wait to see Wanderlei back @ UFC 99 its going to be great…
completely agree fr, I had to find those highlights on youtube, and I was like F* yea wandy you destroy that mofo. I agree that the extra punches were bs, but that happens in a lot of fights. rampage and wandy seemed cool at the end of the last fight, but wandy isnt the same guy as before when he put on a clinic on rampage. I like the idea of a best of 5, but what happens when the 5th fight is a draw (for arguments sake rampage wins the 4th fight) then we need a best of seven, etc. I love wandy’s competetiveness, but I dont think the fight will happen anytime soon. wandy more than likely commits to 185, and rampage and shogun could renew their rivalary, rampage-forrest, maybe rampage-machida, rampage-evans. you never know.
It is funny how no one ever talks about Shogun vs Rampage and their rilvary.
In pride Rampage won a fight against ninja which he even knew he lost but in all fairness took the mike and tried to give the award to ninja, but he was too busy crying. so shogun hopes in the ring and challenges Rampage.
To Rampage credit he admitted not wanting to fight shogun before this fight but man’d up and took the fight.
Gotta love the guy, he’s a character but he involved with all the best fights and always gets fight of the night awards etc.
At this point, I think Wanderlei should focus on fighting Rich Franklin in June. Just last week he was talking up facing Anderson Silva, now he’s talking up facing Rampage, all the while, Franklin is getting ready for him and staying focused on facing him. Wanderlei just needs to take things one fight at a time, and not worry about six months from now, or further down the road, when he’s got a fight in a month in a half.
Agreed. I sure hope he’s not underestimating Franklin.
Silva vs Rampage 4 and 5 would be sweet,
but Silva needs to get some wins first and start moving forward
you cant live in the passed
Yes. Normally after three fights I say please don’t do this to me again.. but these guys could have a legitimate 4th and if quickly after 5th fight and it would still be greatly entertaining.
i’ll be surprised if present day wand survives franklin
