#12 ranked fighter Costas Philippou will be taking on Lorenz Larkin at this Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 40 in the co-main event slot.
“I don’t make game plans. I just go out there and fight,” Philippou said to Cagewriter.
Costa Philippou is coming into this fight with a 12-4 record. He has six wins coming from KO, 1 submission win and 5 decision victories. He has been knocked out once in his career. He made his UFC debut against Nick Catone where he lost via unanimous decision back in March of 2011. Before 2013, he was on a five winning streak. In his last four fights he is 2-2. He beat Riki Fukuda via unanimous decision at UFC 148 in July of 2012 and then Tim Boetch via TKO in the third round back in December of that same year. However, he lost has last two fights coming into this fight. He lost to Francis Carmont via unanimous decision in September of 2013 and then against Luke Rockhold via KO in the first round earlier this year.
“I don’t even know what I’m going to do on fight night [laughs]. Sure, I’d like to go out there and get a quick knockout. I could tell you what I’d like to have happen, but that’s not a game plan – that’s a wish. People confuse the two, a lot. Guys say, ‘I’m going to go out there, stay away from his punches and land my combinations and put him out.’ Yeah, that’s nice, but that’s not a strategy, that’s a wish. I’m going to be aggressive and throw shots because that’s just who I am, but no one knows what’s going to happen in a fight.”
UFC Fight Night 40 goes down this Saturday night on Fox Sports 1 and Fight Pass.
