Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Chris Tuchscherer Added to UFC 102

Heavyweight up-and-comer Chris Tuchscherer will reportedly make his UFC debut at UFC 102 on August 29th in Portland, Oregon against Gabriel Gonzaga.
UFC 102 is headlined by Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and is also expected to feature Demian Maia vs. Nate Marquardt, Keith Jardine vs. Thiago Silva, and Matt Hamill vs. Brandon Vera.
Tuchscherer (17-1-1), a two-time NCAA Division II All-American, suffered his only career loss to Travis Wiuff last April in the finals of the disaster that was YAMMA. He’s since reeled of three-straight victories, winning the Max Fights and SNMAA heavyweight championships with wins over Tony Mendoza and Branden Lee Hinkle respectively, and most recently TKO’d Jamie Klair in the opening round of their April bout.
Gonzaga (10-4) challenged then-heavyweight champion Randy Couture for the title in 2007 following his head kick knockout of Mirko Cro Cop, but suffered a third-round TKO loss in the championship bout. After suffering another loss to Fabricio Werdum, “Napao” rebounded with back-to-back victories over Justin McCully and Josh Hendricks. In a bout against fellow contender Shane Carwin in March, Gonzaga was stopped with strikes just over one minute into the first round.

yeah dude, the hw div is looking a whole lot better these days and i don’t see gonzaga keeping up with the new roster of hw’s.
Tuchscherer is 17-1-1, thats a pretty good record. Looks like Gonzaga has his ork cut out for him. This is turning out to be a good card.
I honestly don’t care who wins in the Couture-Nog fight because both those guys should hang it up,but it’s still going to be interesting to watch them go at cuz they are both legends.
It’s tough to watch Vera vs Hamill because i want to see both guys move up the ladder and it sucks that one of them has to lose. I’m rooting more for Vera because that dude is really talented and i feel he has the style to stop anyone at 205, he’s just had a few set backs. I also want to see Hamill fight more elite gus in the future because he’s a tough dude too.
Of course i’m rooting for Thiago Silva to once and for all send Jardine either packing or into the prelims where he belongs. nice card so far, hope nothing changes.
Fyi randy was beating the beast they call brock untill he got caught in the 3rd…
Randy was not beating Brock! He was barely surviving only because Lesnar was gassing out, and Lesnar was taking him down at will, Couture looked like an old man trying not to get killed.
Couture should give it up period, he’s beginning to show Ken Shamrock symptoms
This card is really ****ing strong
I think this will be a good measure of where Tuchscherer is, if he can beat Gonzaga (and likely get him cut) then he stands a good chance in the UFC. If he can’t get past Gonzaga he will likely fight the second guaranteed fight of his likely four fight contract (usually the way the UFC brings in new guys) and then depending on the outcome stay or go. Gonzaga is a dangerous guy, but he’s also showed he doesn’t take damage well, so it’s a bit of a toss up and a who can hurt the other guy first situation.

i see a potential lay and pray with this fight. gonzaga’s main highlight is his decapatation of cro-cop. with tuchscherer being a wrestler dont be suprised if this ends up being all lay and pray. I agree with justin, and would like to see gonzaga out. he is a middle tier hw in my eyes. the card is good and I cant wait to see maia-marquardt and jardine-thiago. if thiago wins I think he should face a top contender again(hopefully shogun) and maybe jardine the sardine will be cut with a loss, but I doubt it. 205 is stacked, and wait until the “darth bader” comes back in 9 months. he is a future top contender if not champion at 205

dude i saw chris fight alot of times and gonzaga fight to but in all i think chris is gunna win and i hope he does i like to see my home town dudes kick ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
