Jon Jones (20-1 now) was coming into this fight with a ten fight winning streak. He defeated Maurício Rua via TKO to win the title in 2011 and went on to defend his title six times with wins over fighters named: Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen and finally back in September against Alexander Gustafsson.

Glover Teixeira (22–3 now) was coming into this fight with a  win over Rampage Jackson and dominated the fight with the Former Light Heavyweight champion for three rounds back in January of 2013. He knocked off James Te Huna in a submission victory and finished 2013 off in a strong performance against Ryan Bader with a knockout of the night award in September. The craziest thing about this guy is that he has not lost in eight years (2006) until he met Jon Jones.

Teixeira with some right hands early in the fight, but Jones mixing it up well with knees and kicks. Teixeira with lefts and rights, then goes for a single, but stuffed. Jones lands a nice head kick two minutes into the fight. Teixeira was poked in the eye, the referee stops it for a moment and then back to action. Teixeira is throwing bombs, but Jones is avoiding them. Jones lands a takdown with 1:50 left in the first round. Teixeira gets up quickly.

Teixeira with an overhand right to start the third round. Jones lands a knee to the body that lands pretty good. Teixeira is looking for something and lands a combination of left, right punches. Jones continues to lands uppercuts and elbows. Jones gets a clinch on the fence and lands devastating elbows to the face of Teixeira. Glover is bloody to end the third round.

Jones dominated the last two rounds. He kept coming forward with elbows to the face that Teixeira had no clue how to do deal with. Jones landed what he wanted to when he wanted to. Teixeira tried to mount a comeback, but was overwhelmed and could not land anything big.

Jon Jones def. Glover Teixeira via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)
