Danny Castillo (17–6) was coming into this fight looking for a win. He was 2-2 in his last four fights and entering this fight with a loss on his record. He lost to Michael Johnson via knockout back in October of 2012, then got a pair of wins with a unanimous decision over Paul Sass back in February of 2013 and a unanimous decision over Tim Means back in July. However Edson Barboza stopped his winning streak back in December when he edges Castillo out with a Majority decision
Charlie Brenneman took Castillo down almost right away, he ground and pounded him on while in the mount and side control. In the later part of round one they exchanged with a mixture of strikes. However, we ended the round with Brenneman on the back of Castillo and then Castillo ends the round with a rear naked choke.
The second round and an a violent way to end the fight is when Castillo landed a sick right hand hook that dropped Brenneman to the mat. Brenneman was out cold before he landed on his back on the mat.
Charlie Brenneman (19–7) was coming into this fight with a history of course. Brenneman stepped into the co-main event fight at UFC Live: Kongo vs. Barry in 2011 against Rick Story and beat him, which was an upset at the time. Brenneman went 1-3 and was cut from the UFC. He went on to fight in local MMA promotions and got a four fight win streak out of it. When he was cut from the UFC he dropped down to 155 (Lightweight) and began fighting. Brenneman came back to the UFC in January of this year and lost to Beneil Dariush via Rear Naked Choke in the 1st round.
