UFC Prez Dana White took part in a really cool Q&A with the fans today on ESPN.com. Of course with UFC 172 right around the corner, there was a lot of talk about that. Here are some of the highlights of the Q&A Session with UFC fans:
If Jon Jones wins again, what do you think is in store for him at light heavyweight? Will anyone rise up to challenge him?
“I think if he wins this fight, everyone wants to see the rematch again. That’s what will happen.”
UFC continues to grow… where do you think it could make even more improvements?
“I think what we’re really focused on right now is going into these other countries and growing the sport everywhere. What we’re really excited about is all of the success in Mexico.”
With Bones Jones is having so much success early in his career, do you think he could go down as one of the all-time greats?
“Yeah, no doubt. When you look at who he has fought and beat, he’s gone through murderer’s row and beat the who’s who. If he wins Saturday night, he still has Cormier, Gustaffson, and a lot of other guys. The crazy thing about him is he’s not in his prime yet.”
Who are fighters that are in consideration for Anderson Silva’s opponent when he returns from injury?
“We’ll find him an opponent quick. I’m expecting him to be ready by the end of the year.”
Has the UFC done anything to prevent bad judging or to add a more objective point system to fights?
“It drives me crazy. It’s not us. It’s the state athletic commissions. But it’s gotten so much publicity on how bad it is that the commissions are really taking it seriously now and we’ll see some big changes in the next several years.”
If Luke Rockhold wins in his next fight, is he next in line for a title shot or Vitor Belfort?
“Vitor. After he gets his business cleared up with Nevada.”
