Finally!!! A UFC card worth buying!!! I think Anderson vs. Forrest is much more appealing then Thiago vs. Forrest. Pumped about this matchup.. i hope BJ gets destroyed again too.. war Kenflo!

  • OnlyTrue1 says:

Which will be the main event.
Man these two fight alone got me excited.

Amir Sadolah is actually gonna fight.??? Isn’t he the goofey looking guy who won the first origanal Tuff show??

    I’M JOKING!!!!!

But it seems thats how long its been since we seen him fight. Mr. Automatic tap has fought what 3 times since he lost to Amir.

  • fr702 says:

Well the main event would be KenFlo v BJ Penn for the LW title, the “co~mainevent” will be Anderson Silva v Forrest Griffin…

This looks to be a excellent card and the last time Amir fought was 6/21/2008 when he tapped CB

    • Justin says:

Yeah, the UFC usually puts title fights as the main, even if their may be a “bigger” fight in front of it, i.e. UFC 97. Instead of what Strikeforce did at their last event, or what ProElite did as well.

  • Eric Shapiro says:

Sweet that its officially announced- someone was telling me that the Wachovia Center was having issues dealing with the UFC, but obviously it all worked out. Now we can focus on more important matters, like how many of you fools will be coming down to party with me philly style?! I know its no Stockton, but we try our best…

    • fr702 says:

Well you didn’t party with me Cali style soo I don’t think I can make it out to your Philly style party, August 8th is a long ways away, lets see what sort of magic I can come up with? That would definately be interesting….

  • curt says:

just for the record i thought that forrest vs. thiago was in the books.. anyone know if anything happened other then a better fight presenting itself?

    • fr702 says:

Dana made an executive decision bottom line, I’m not sure if Griffin v Thiago was exactly “in the books” but its a Silva none the less ;-)

*rumored is Thiago Silva v Keith Jardine @UFC 102

    • chrisl says:

since the card wasn’t “officially” announced until recently anything you previously heard is “unofficial/rumored” it doesn’t actually become anything until the card is officially announced and signed.

  • Danny says:

id rather see anderson vs forrest than thiago and at least forrest will give anderson a fight to make it a fight of the year category which will make everybody remember rather than andersons previous 2 fights

  • thezanman says:

I cant wait to see Forrest Bring it to Silva

Silva last fight put me to sleep

    it should be a war.

  • timcat says:

It won’t be such a big deal, the short turn around for Silva, considering he didn’t fight his last time in the octagon. I think it’s a bad career move for Forrest to fight this guy after being scolded by Dana White.

  • MMAFan says:

About time! Florian v. Penn is going to be really interesting. Hope Florian takes him out… dominantly!

  • Jdubb says:

If BJ dont win he will retire (I only hope Kenflo kicks his ASS). As for Forest and Silva guess if Silva wins then he gets a shot at either the Dragon or Evens???

  • OnlyTrue1 says:

Well it is possible this is a dangerous fight for A.Silva just as much because he just finish training and fighting. Just be cause the fight wasn’t exciting doesn’t mean he doesn’t need rest or time to heal.

    2. He is fighting at 205 thats 20 extra pounds to carry in a fight. @ ufc 97 he weighed in at 183!!!

    3. Plus he’s fighting a huge forrest who comes to fight and will weigh maybe what 212 on the day of the fight.

So this shouldn’t be a easy win for A.Silva at all. This may very well be his toughest test to date.

OR HE COULD VERY WELL CATCH A LEG KICK THROWN AT HIM PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE AND END THE FIGHT. ala Irvin.

    • Justin says:

Chuck weighed in at 218 before cutting for UFC 97, and Forrest is bigger than Chuck, I think Forrest will come into the fight around 220-225. I’m not sure why Silva weighed in at 183 for UFC 97, but he is definitely bigger than that, but he’s not as big as most 205ers, he put on muscle for the Irvin fight, and I’m sure he will do the same for this fight.

  • bigchris2328 says:

silva cut to make weight at 97 to weigh under the 185 limit. after he rehydrated and ate im sure he went back to 190-195 maybe 200. the advantage that silva usually enjoys against his opponents that helps him is his height/reach and weight advantage. forrest is taller than silva and will likely weigh more than silva. silva walks around at 220+ before he starts dieting down for his mw fights. silva is the more precise striker and has an edge in the striking game, but forrest is not going to let silva pick him apart. he will push the pace without being reckless. he has a solid chin, he didnt get ko’d by rampage or evans. the ref stopped the evans fight but forrest wasnt out cold like chuck was against evans. I think this is the biggest fight of the year so far. we had gsp-penn which wasnt competitve, we will have gsp-alves which will be a war, and mir-lesnar which lesnar should destroy mir in. I just wish the forrest-silva fight was 5 rounds instead of 3.

    • Jaymz says:

      Bigchris,

This should be a great fight either way,and I agree,it’s too bad it’s not 5 rounds.Have to disagree with the other two fights though.Like I said to you in my response on the other post,GSP should overwhelm Alves. And I’d bet that Mir submits Lesnar again, possibly first round.

  • jazzkok says:

Dude the main event and co-main event save this card cuz the other fights look weak dude.

My boy ken-flo just finished training with my boy GSP and i hella want to see him submitt bj “grease gate” penn. If Bj Penn doesn’t win this fight he can kiss his “legacy” bye bye. Bj Has done some kool things in this sport but after getting his ass handed to him by George “Bj’s daddy” St Pierre, then the whole grease gate thing, dude he’s just made himself look bad and i can’t imagine anyone being impressed with your boy bj if he loses his title. His lw championship is , for now, the only thing he has that keeps this “prodigy” status for him.

Also, i’m excited to see anderson silva challenge himself with forrest

    • marvelknight4 says:

      Yeah i agree Jazzkok

BJ Penn is a complete fighter, but he got destroyed by St. Pierre. Anyone who knows MMA knows that with or without the whole grease thing,GSP beat Penn no matter how many excuses he makes. Penn always talks about”I just want to be the best ever, is that too much to ask” Its is too much to ask.

Yes he had the 170 belt and is now the 155 champ. He beat old Jens Pulver, beat overrated Joe Daddy and beat one trick pony with zero stand-up Sean Sherk. He thinks that makes him the best? Come on those guys are good but not elite fighters. If Penn not only beats, but stops Kenny Florian, then he can really start building his legacy as the best 155 pounder ever, but overall the best ever, never in his wildest dreams will he have that pleasure.

Ken-Flo is taking his belt and his hope for a true legacy that night.

  • ninjadanny says:

Man I cannot wait for this card.
The main events are amazing and I am way stoked.
    War B.J. and Silva!!!
