A bantamweight bout between Takeya Mizugaki and Jeff Curran is likely to take place at WEC 42 in August, according to MMA Fanhouse.

WEC 42 is expected to be headlined by bantamweight title-holder Miguel Torres taking on challenger Brian Bowles, with Mizugaki-Curran also being featured on the Versus-broadcast main card.

Mizugaki (11-3-2) was last in action against Torres at WEC 40 earlier this month, dropping a unanimous decision in a fight of the year candidate to the 135-pound champion in his WEC debut. He had previously won five-straight bouts in Japan’s Cage Force promotion.

Curran (29-11-1) dropped back-to-back fights to top featherweights Urijah Faber and Mike Brown before dropping down to the bantamweight division, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Joseph Benavidez at WEC 40 in his 135-pound debut.

I think Mizugaki can take this one, especially if he can keep the fight standing.

absolutely. although i dont know exaclty how good his takedown defence is cause it didnt seem like torres minded keeping it on the feet. Bowles your next bud

But then again Curran has gone all Gurgel on us, wanting to stand and trade instead of going for subs and using his supierior ground work…. I’ve pick Curran before but I’m definately leaning towards Takeya Mizugaki for this bout……..
