Tavares Withdraws From TUF 9 Finale Bout Against Guillard Due To Elbow Injury

Lightweight Thiago Tavares ( 14-3) has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Melvin Guillard (21-7-2), which had been scheduled to take place on June 20th in Las Vegas at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale, after suffering an elbow injury.

Back to victories after defeating Manny Gamburyan at UFC 94, Thiago Tavares was reportedly scheduled to face Manny Gamburyan at TUF 9 Finale, at June 20th, but the ATT fighter won’t be able to fight. According to his manager, Alex Davis, Tavares suffered an elbow injury and won’t have time to recover for the fight.
A replacement has not yet been named to take on Guillard in the 155-pound contest.

Damn I was hoping to see Guillard get choked out of the UFC (again), the kid has power and speed
but he just well is annoying as F!!K
dude i wanted to watch this fight but yeah dude he might have gotten choked out in the end. IMO guillard has some sick ass ko power and speed but he hella needs to work on completing his game and his attitude. He can act like a little punk sometimes dude. Wonder who they might replace tavares with.
Wow, he dodged a bullet for sure. I’m not a Melvin fan, but the guy is tough as nails and has tons of experience.
Tavares most likely would have got ko’d, or Melvin would have gotten sloppy and gotten submitted.
{Melvin Guillard} I’m surprised the kid is still in the ufc. I thought at one time he would rule 155, but until he gets some wrestleing and bjj and cardio he wont make into top 10 and he’ll be the next to be cut by the ufc.
