Welterweight Josh Burkman and middleweight Jason Day have both been released by the UFC.
Burkman (9-7) has competed exclusively in the UFC since late-2005, compiling a 5-5 record in ten UFC bouts. He was cut by the promotion after losing three-straight fights to Mike Swick, Dustin Hazelett, and Pete Sell.
Despite notable victories over Jonathan Goulet, David Loiseau, and Alan Belcher, Day (17-8) has been cut by the UFC after dropping back-to-back fights to Michael Bisping and Kendall Grove.

it’s about time burkman been cut. losing 3 straight is not a good thing and i no he’s good but he just can’t seem to get a win/
I figured it was just a matter of time before the let Burkman go. He’s a hard worker and a good fighter, but can’t seem to win when placed in showcase fights against well named fighters. He keeps coming up short. Hopefully he can get on a roll and put a few impressive victories on some other shows ern another shot in the UFC.
That’s too bad with Jason Day, but Burkman was expected. He started out decent on the scene, but he had a pretty big ego. I guess it finally caught up.
see ya later
yeah that sucks for jason day. he’s a great fighter im sure he’ll find a place to fight and win his way back to the big show
While they’re at it let Loiseau go again, it’s hard to explain why a guy with so much ammo refuses to use it. He’s got no more crazy in his fight but instead now tries to make every fight a conservative Greco style wrestling match.
It’s like he tries to emulate his buddy GSP’s style of takedown and G&P but thats not his strengths, what a waste of raw skills, no elbows, punches or spinning backkicks a la McCarthy…disappointed!
I always enjoy Josh fights, maybe he’s a little cocky but so what he puts out big effort with huge heart, i’ll hope to see him back some day.
Kinda funny how Burkman always brings it yet he’s getting cut, while MacDonald is probably not getting cut because he always brings it.
Josh will be back he has alot of heart after a few wins outside the octogon
