Latest Summer UFC Event Rumors

Update: UFC 72 will be in Ireland after all on June 16th with UFC 73 on July 7th

After we speculated UFC 72 would be in Ireland we have learned more about the plans for UFC events this summer. It is now believed the UFC will have a UFC Fight Night event in Ireland on June 30th. We previously speculated the date might be UFC 72 but further rumors suggest UFC 72 will remain scheduled for July 7th in Las Vegas although a specific venue hasn’t been announced. Here are the dates and cards for UFC events rumored for this summer.

UFC 71 – May 26th (Las Vegas)

Chuck Liddell vs. Quinton Jackson
Keith Jardine vs. TBD
Karo Parisyan vs. Josh Burkman
Ivan Salaverry vs. Terry Martin
Chris Leben vs. Kalib Starnes
Eric Schafer vs. Sean Salmon

UFC Fight Night – June 30th (Ireland)

UFC 72 -July 7th (Las Vegas)

Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquardt
Sean Sherk vs. Hermes Franca

Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans
Jorge Gurgel (?) vs. TBD

    well i dont understand this matchup Nate Marquardt vs anderson silva….i hardly hear of that guy why dont they give mike swick a shot or even chris leben vs anderson 2??? i know how easily he was disposed of but its like the same wit franklin he should have that rematch cuz i beleive that franklin stands a wicked chance at retaining that title aslong as he can defend that muay thai clintch which doesnt really seem that hard to do or atleast get his own knees in silvas face

    I think Marquardt earned this shot and it should be a pretty decent fight. Now I agree completely that there are lots of other fighters in line for a title shot/rematch and as long as Silva retains the next defense we will likely see is against Rich Franklin.
